FYI, Honda just recalled an assload of Pilots and Odysseys for funbag, er, airbag problems as well. Needed a reprogram or something like that.

They need to get on the ball with safety equipment

Interesting how I never recieved any kind of notice. You'd think that would be a priority recall to get fixed.

I'd think that's why...I believe that this was posted back when it first came out about a year and a half ago.

I assume that means the passenger airbag only? not the drivers?

There are very few cases where the airbags will deploy. I've seen many people whine about their airbags not going off but that's probably because if they did, they would have been injured even more.
The airbags aren't going to go off unless you hit a solid object head on at a very good clip from what I understand.

Nightrider: From the looks of your car, I would say that your airbags should not have gone off. It wasn't even totaled right?

no, the car wasn't totalled and no injuries whatsoever so it's understandable, but i half expected the airbags to deploy. i guess it saved insurance money in the long run.

night rider: Notice how your bumper and it's reinforcement has not really been pushed back that much. It looks like you went under something. There was not enough solid contact to trigger airbag deployment. The airbag is only set to deploy when you hit something that doesn't give that much. Since you went under the car, it acted like a cushion and gave your car a longer time to slow down.

If you had Tboned something like a van and you didn't go under and your car stopped suddenly, that's when the airbag can help you.

Yup, the airbags are triggered by a G meter. Some people think they are triggered by sensors in the bumper, i know a guy that thought if you kicked the bumper real hard it would set the airbags off

but yea, G meters, it measures how many G's the car undergoes. If that is within a range it sets off the SRS system. You don't want the airbags going off anyway, they can have toxic fumes (from the explosives in them) and can really beat the ish out of you

better then hitting the windshield though

Not just the fumes. But that damn white powder will burn the **** out of you. If you are holding onto the wheel at impact your forearms will be burnt.
