I'll have one for sale soon
Guys,
i'm on the verge of taking delivery on a 98 ITR Shell, missing drivetrain, ECU, radio, cluster & seats, ignition.... has a Salvage Title and 55k Miles. Still has 5 lug suspension and airbags, and lots more, but i'm having a dilema on how much to price it for, please keep rude/volgar comments to yourself, as i'm a legitmate seller. Honest/Legit Suggestions.... How much do ITR Shells go for, and i did a search with no results?

Thanks.

anyone else, i think $2500 is way low for a ITR Shell. I think from seeing previous posting the wheels and suspension are worth that, correct?

I fail to see the "lots more part"
The car is a shell, it has the correct suspension and wheels, carpet, incomplete dash...and that's about it. It doesn't even have the radiator anymore.
Does it even have the ECU?
To me, that isn't worth more than $3000....I'm not sure what price range you're looking for, but I wouldn't expect much higher...realistically...

I payed 1800 for my 97 shell with no suspension, seats, door panels, dash/column wiring and pedals. they also took the wing, but at least they left the radiator!! I was originally going to look at a '00 py with about the same as yours and it was listed for 4500...so who knows, it all depends on how bad someone wants it.
i would do it all over again, everytime i see that "shell" i cant help but think of all the good times I'll have in it.
Actually this week someone offered me everything that i nedd (no 5 lug or motor) but wheels, and the rest of the interior for my stock ABS system. It just shows how much value these cars hold...........

val, you never cease to surprise me with the things you come up with..
this isn't a bad deal.. not an especially great one though.. appears to need a little bit of body help.. this would be a good shell to build on for a road race car.. is the engine harness still in it? was it cut at all? this is a theft recovery, i assume?
check your PM for what I think it's worth..

And to think I sold this entire car for $4,500 and still made a profit:
Which included EVERYTHING on a 9,000 mile motor that ran Mobil1 (without burning any I may add.) I tracked the car or VIN down a bit ago and found it registered in Socal.
Gratuitous shot of the R before it's fateful demise and PROOF I used to be Skinny:
I wouldn't buy a shell for over $2K and it better be in perfect condition with a few extra goodies.

Very incorrect. Five lug w/ wheels sells for about 1600 dollars. Not to mention there is quarter panel damage on the left side. I think 3000 is a fair price. Anything more and you are getting ripped. All the 4500 dollar shells you see are clean title, yours is not.

I don't think that "clean title" has much to do with it.
As I said above, I sold my R with a "Salvaged Title" for about $4,500. even with the damage above but, the car was FULL of EVERYTHING! Even if you pulled the fenders and made it straight or not, the value of ALL of the parts including very low mileage made mine worth the $4,500 or even moreso if I parted it out. But, I wasn't in for the hassle and didn't have the resouces to do the work.
Don't get me wrong vntperformance, I ain't tryin to rain on your parade, I'm just tryin to let you know that asking what you think you are going to ask is Not any great deal. It's a stripped shell for God's sakes, Then you're gonna have to work out shipping and whatnot. At best that shell is Great for someone looking to build a track car.

I am in the market for a shell, I am very interested. PM me or e- mail at d4wn2nit3@hotmail.com I am about to start a project, and this is exactly what I want. -Shawn
i paid $3500 for mine, almost same condition as yours but mine was missing 5lugs and clean tittle, depending on your area its around $2000-$3500 but being salvage i would say below $3000

Salvage title does matter to those that want to insure it. Most likely this car would be somewhat street driven. There aren't many people that can afford track only cars. And if that salvage title restoration R were ever to get stolen again, you wouldn't get **** from insurance. That's why it does make a difference. A small difference, but still 500 bucks is something.
Yeah if you want it for a track only....then it doesn't really make a difference as long as the car has been in no major accidents.
But if I were looking for a shell, I would look for a stolen salvage with no body damage. Fixing a quarter panel ain't cheap. But at least it has the five lug and wheels. I dunno. Do they know the mileage on the chassis??? That also makes a difference in price. If it was a 100K or over the price drops significantly because other parts have more wear and tear.

That's not true. Insurance companies pay you what it would cost to replace the car. I think it was RTW DC2 or another member on the East Coast that had an salvaged title car stolen and they still got a good value from the insurance company.

I'm fairly certain that that car would not be worth more than $1500 to an insurance company. ie, if that was what was left of your car when it was stolen, you could buy it for that price.
However, not everybody has that opportunity, (good thing), so I would say $3500 maximum. Definitely over 4 if the body was perfect.
As for the price of the suspension and wheels, jdm type r five lug with 16" wheels and tires are going for $1800 or so now.
Who knows though. . .type R's are worth more to some people. There was a '00 PY in autotrader a couple weeks ago, with some comptech engine parts and 25,000 miles for $25,000. It was not listed a week later. . .
