Some people complain 205's create a sloppy feel. 225 is way too much for a 6'' rim.

At least one person runs 225/45 series tires on stock 6" wide rims in the RRAX forum so the point of them NOT fitting is moot. Too wide and sloppy can happen with 205/50's on 6" wide rims that run a bit wide like the Azenis Sports.
And the vague sloppy feeling for these is not a complaint, or personal opinion, it is truth. It has to do with the squareness of the tire sidewall to the wheel. It does affect turn in response, and simply going to a 7" wheel up front will cure this problem.
I run staggered 15x7" Kosei K1's up front and stock R wheels 15x6" in the rear with 205/50 Azenis and have no more steering feel/turn in issues. I also Run 225/45's on 7" rims for R compounds and while they fit fine, do rub the front wheel well liners and rear LCA's a bit.

225/50-15 is the common size for the front tires while autocrossing. Yes, they will fit, but you'll need spacers to give you clearance to the suspension and inner fender to prevent rubbing. 225's with spacers will cause the outside of the tire to be flush or a little outside of the fender opening.
When I've used the autocross tires to get me back and forth from the track, the car is a lot more sensitive to the ruts in the freeway lanes.
I personally, would not use 225's for daily use.

Offset decides if you require spacers or not and how the wheel/tire sits inside or outside the line of the fender.
225/45's don't rub so much that it is a major issue even with a +43 offset and only really rub lock to lock which you really shouldn't be driving anyway.

Agreed.
However, the question was asked regarding the stock ITR wheels, which have a +50mm offset.
When autocrossing I use 225/50 with 5mm spacers and Millenia wheels. Since the Millenia rims are +50mm also, adding the 5mm spacer get's me close to the +43mm offset you mentioned, and reduces the rubbing.
I added the note about where the wheels sit as info so they can understand what it'll look like. Personally, I think they make the whole car look angry, which helps to intimidate my competition.
