broken bolt on throttle cable bracket!! NEED FIX!
i was tightening the bolt for my throttle cable bracket and snapped the head off. now it is secured by the only 1 bolt left. the rest of the thread is in the throttle body. does anyone know of anything i can do to fix this? getting a new throttle body is not an option.
Screw extractor or a left-handed drill bit.
Left-handed drill bits aren't real easy to find, but they twist in the opposite direction. Use a reversable drill, sometimes that's enough to back out the remains of the broken bolt.
Otherwise an extractor has a left-handed twist at the end. You drill a particular size hole thru the broken bolt, tap this thing into the hole, and use a T-handle or even a small wrench to unscrew the broken bolt.

Maybe it'll thread out with a strong magnet if the grit and stick isn't real bad. I would imagine drilling and extracting a 6mm bolt wouldn't be too fun as careful as you'd have to be to not drill the IM's threads.
hmm that sounds good. i went to my local HD and the dude told me to drill out the hole and rethread a bigger new hole. i dunno if this is a good idea. hole goes all the way through the throttle body wall so can i try to drill it from the opposite end in hope that it will turn the bolt and come out? i had been pondering about this idea for a while.
Actually, I like the magnet idea. You can't slip & destroy the whole thing. I wasn't thinking about how small that bolt is. If that doesn't work, take a piece of wood dowel & glue it to the busted bolt. Use that to unscrew it.
