dom and erw donkeysh*t
Does it matter if your cage is erw or dom if your car runs an 11.99 or faster?
considering this is taken from the 2003 NHRA handbook, it says nothing about dom and ERW construstion, so long as it:
is constructed of minimum 1 ¾ inch o.d. x .118 inch wall mild steel tubing, or 1 ¾ x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram:
The autopower 6pt "cage" is made of 1.75 od and .120 inch wall mild steel. so it should be legal to run my car which, theoretically, is capable of 11 second passes. yes?

P.S. im too lazy to search any more, i couldn't find a straight answer on the first 3 pages of results so i decided to post.

I believe it says something in there about being welded in bt like 1/4" steel plates. soemthing to that effect.
what is the breakoff as to when you need a full cage? is it 135mph?

cage can be bolted in with 6 inch plates....as long as there are 6" back up plates underneath....i(all plates 1/8" thick)t says nothing about how big the plates have to be if they are welded in so long as they are welded to the factory rocker sill.
P.S. laziness will get you know where.......just show's at how easy it is for you to give up.
its all good

dude, calm down, and NO autopower cages ARE NOT LEGAL, they are bolted together, ie. the 2 back backs are bolted to the main loop = not legal
the cage has to be all welded together, but may be bolted to the car with backing plates.

sorry, i do get carried away, but i find that to be the most crude and demeaning thing i have read on honda-tech in the past several months. Thank you for So you're 100% sure i wouldn't be able to get past tech with that cage to run 11s?
thx,
ryan

DOM is the mandated requirement for NHRA i beleive, i dont know the others
But if the requirements aren't made for you car ERW is acceptable if you go to the next biggest size in material that is listed for your application

according to the picture i pulled form the NHRA handbook webpage, can that little "arm" that extends along the driver side be collapsable? like can that be bolted in or not?
