Default Something I never knew about Hondata, perhaps any other EMS too...

..is just how much they do indeed rely on factory O2 sensors for driveability. See I always assumed that the cars were run strictly off the hard code burned on to the EPROM, but after driving my GSR the past few days with no O2 sensors and now replacing them... my god!

Before you me for the lact of O2's, understand that unlike my GReddy in the Civic which had the O2 sensor bungs located ON the DP, my GSR has a Revhard DP with no O2 bungs since the Integra's had both sensors located on the cat (the Civic has one on the manifold and 1 on the cat). So when I removed my exahust to run the car open DP, I had to remove the 2 sensors again thinking it would have no affect on the car.. wow was I wrong. Slowly but surley for the past few days I've noticed WOT performance competley errode to the point where just today I'd punch the car and it'd sputter and break-up on it's way up the rpm. After some thinking I thought the O2's might indeed play a role, so I installed the complete exahust again (Apex'i N1, 2.38"), reinstalled the sensors, regapped the plugs just in case and reset the ECU. First driving impression, this car is SOOOOOO much quicker WITH the exahust that it was without, it's amazing!

So anyways, sorry for the 1:30am rambling, but I just had to get it off my chest, I'm so stoked! Oh and to top it off, on my trip around town tonight feeling the improvement, I bump into a couple young guys in a blue Miata who asked me to run it... 6 cars later, they were impressed

o2 sensor only has a play in it if you set it on closed loop.

Besides if the ecu is set at closed loop but you just take out the o2 sensor, your car is in limp mode.

edit- typo.

Unless you put a diode on the end of the harness to fool it into thinking the O2 is there. Then no CEL. Although this CEL is harmless.
