I was wondering if anyone has a Gsr 2dr. pretty much built up except for the fact of a port and polished head? I'm talking about 11.1 Cr, jdm 4-1 header, itr intake manifold, cams, skunk ecu and weight reduction lets say 2550 with driver. Do any of you guys think a Gsr with these mods or possibly a little more can hit 13's with drag radials or street tires?

Okay, for a Gsr motor without port and polish work, what mods would you consider to get a Gsr to lets say 180whp? Or a 13 second et?
I've seen the following setup put down 178.Xwhp on a B18C...
- ITR intake cam (not the 00spec) (stock exhaust cam)
- portflow inner springs and ti retainers
- jdm itr pistons (11.4:1CR)
- bored 64mm t/b and skunk2 im
- greddy header w/ test pipe
- aem cai
- fpr and v-afc
With CTR cams (I & E) and a JDM ITR header w/ 2.5" cat or test-pipe and 2.5" exhaust, you should be able to break 180whp. The guy had a lot of tuning tho and I think a custom ECU. You could also try Spoon, Toda A, Jun 2, or Skunk2 cams for a lil more power and still retain stock idle.

You'll need closer to 185 to the wheel on a GSR. Hitting 13's is not as easy as you all think. You ain't gonna do it on street tires. Since you have a GSR tranny you have bad gearing so you either have to use a lower final drive (numerically higher) or a slick that is 20 inches tall on a 14 inch rim 8 inches wide or use a Type R tranny. You need to get no less than a 1.9-1.8 60 foot time.
Head work is not overrated. Even though gains on a dyno show only a 10 hp increase it allows your engine to rev up so much faster. The key to running fast is not how much power your car makes, of course that helps, it is how fast your engine winds up to high rpm.

i wouldn't think you need that much to break into the 13's if the car weighs 2550 w/ driver........01gsr broke into the 14's with just an intake and 100 lbs weight reduction........if the car was that light, i/h/e and drag radials might get you pretty damn close.......with cams, definately

A GSR can hit 13's without a P&P head. Been there done that. You need really good suspension, some sticky tread, some basic bolt ons and a ******* sick driver.
Now 12's is a diff story, but a turbo will solve all that

once I get my H/E and high flow cat...I'm going to shoot for 13's during the winter...
weight reduction is key with the teg...I need to find the weight of my car when I race...track here doesn't have a scale
btw: tires are crucial, you'll definitly want drag radials or slicks...

Hey 01 gsr you forgot to mention that you got nos. LOL Nice setup though, you should break 13's with no problem spraying a 55 shot.
