I WAS TOLD THAT ERICK AGUILAR IS NO LONGER WITH STR.
HEARD THAT ERICK AFTER BEING PICKED UP BY STR HE WAS LOOKING ELSE WHERE FOR SPONSORSHIP.
BECAUSE STR POCKETS WEREN'T DEEP ENOUGH.
THEY TOOK HIS CAR ALL OVER THE STATES TO RACE AND THAT'S HOW HE PAYS THEM BACK TO ME THAT IS VERY FUCKED UP.
ALSO DROPPED A FRIEND OF LONG TIMES (DERREK STEVENS FROM HONDATA) WHAT ABOUT MOTUL THEY PAY HIM 50GEES A YEAR AND ALL THE FREE OIL HE COULD USE.
IF THOSE ARE FRIEND WHY DO YOU NEED ENEMIES.

I did notice today that he is no longer a dealer for Hondata and on his site they no longer show Hondata. I was wondering what was up with that, wasn't Doug partof his pit crew? I havnothing bad to say just curious. I still think Erick is amazing and has accomplished GREAT Things for the spor but so has Leslie Durst!

 

Even if it is true i have no clue.. it's obvious you have no clue about pro import drag racing...

This is hypothetical situation... If Erick forcasts that he is going to need $100,000 dollars to race competitively next year, and STR could only assist with say $20,000 were do you expect him to get the other $80,000 from....

So he could stay with STR and the budget they can help him with and run only select events and not be able to maintain his car..
or
He looks elsewhere and finds a sponsor that can fund his team for the 2004 season, race all events and perhaps set new records...

Thats racing... it costs money... unfortunately sometimes it's more then friendship when it comes to a proffesional level

i met Erick at SEMA and he didn't seem cocky to me. actually i was surprised that he was kinda shy and timid. maybe the cockyness is his race face. i think someof us gets a little cocky on race day.

 

I've meet Erick a couple times and he's far from cocky and was very nice to talk too. I'm sure STR and Erick came to this decision together. Good luck to Erick next year and also to STR.

 

Racing is a business. Just like anything else you need to put your $$ where you mouth is. If his sponsers arent putting up the dough then why shouldn't he look for more? One year contracts are signed for just that reason...Friend or not friend I'm sure that STR/Hondata has no bad blood for being able to use Ericks car for a whole year. I'm sure it has helped there business grow and honestly has changed there image by sponsoring someone like Erick. Either way 2004 should be very interesting...

 

why are all rumors posted in CAPS by PPL that ONLY TROLL THE BOARDS? its liek their whole purpose in signing up is to spread "hersay"

Drama-tech is also another one. If STR and Erick separated, I wish them both luck next year. I can't wait to see what his new ride is capable of. And please don't post in caps, it really sucks to read that crap.

All I know is that when I saw Erick at SEMA, his badge said something like Tactics Racing. Kind of surprised me because that was the Jojo/Scott Revell/Castrol connection. I really know nothing else about the situation. I would assume his contract with STR ends at the end of the year and he may be signing elsewhere.

ill give him credit even though he typed it in all caps, atleast he had his facts straight. and for anyone that hasnt heard Erick signed a deal with scott revel to be jojo's teamate next yr.

 

well He didn´t seem cocky to me.. got to meet him last week, he was over here in Panama for our countrys last race of the season..(road racing not drag) he built a guys engine and car over here...
The engine had STR parts.. maybe they had not gone separate ways till today... I dunno..

i heard about his the day after sema.. but i didnt want to start any romurs.. so i guess it is true.. good luck to everyone next year.... i need to talk to the holland guys and find out their situation for next year since that erick is leaving...

 

Well than maybe you should think before you post and not post like some one using AOL... Like you said 1 or 14000, 75 is just a number. It does not represent my involvement with the import racing scene/business either...

As for Erick, he has to do what works for him. Staying competitive is tough; everybody has picked it up a notch-he has to go all out to stay on top.
