Default LS 5th gear in GSR tranny

I have a GSR tranny with an ITR lsd, can I add an ls 5th gear? I heard that it can only fit if there is no LSD any truth to this?

It will fit, but you have to replace mainshaft 5th and countershaft 5th gears. You can't use an LS mainshaft 5th gear with a GSR countershaft 5th gear, for example.

correct... 5th gear is both of the physical gears... not just one... u need 2 gears to make a ratio

yes it can be done, but why? the gsr 5th gear is not very short to begin with.

the ls is even shorter though... and for most people... its nice to cruise everyday at a lower rpm... not many people race in 5th gear anyway

You mean longer, smaller numerically.

i really dont think that the gsr 5th is too short for highway driving at all. i guess on a turbo it would be nice for highway cruising, but if its NA i see no point.

it would be for highway crusing.. I want to crusie at 65 at around 2500 rpms or less. I take long road trips every year and it will be boosted

if that's what you want it for, it will work great! i have a ys1(ls) fith gear in my tranny, and it's only spinning at 4K rpms @ 80MPH
