Default JDM Type R gears

I have a 2000 JDM type R transmission I baught off of a local parts shop, and I am having my doubts of it being a true JDM type r transmission, the transmission has a lsd for sure and says S80 on it. I am a little sceptical on them. So since I am not going to install it for a while I was thinking of taking it apart to count the teeth on the gears. But the only thing is I forgot how many teeth are supposed to be on them for it to be a true JDM type R transmission. If you could help it would be great!

best way to do that is to check the final drive, i'm sure someone will post the specs on it soon.

are all of the gears for the JDM ITR tranny different then the USDM?

if you look at the tranny housing where usdm says J4Dor JH4 LSD if its jdm it will say LSD N3E if its a 98 spec+ jdm tranny that will be the deciding factor if its a true 4.7 jdm tranny

Good notes, only issue is that those are painted on, and can come off with cleaning/wear(hth you'd were there... who knows). S80 is the designation for a 98+ jdm spec tranny also, at least it is on mine.

S80 also comes on gsr's also just minus the lsd so i dont know if is the designation for a jdm tranny. if the lsd n3e is still on there that will be the confirmation he needs

Didnt know about the gsr tranny sharing designations. Of course 1-3 gearing is usdm ITR, 4-5 is usdm GSR. Definitly agree on the later part though....

if you take the axles out and look into the diff you can tell. IF you can see straight through it has the LSD, if there's alittle bar inside you don't.

I had the same worries on my JDM type r motro, because teh LSD stamp was washed off....

Um, there are two sets of teethed area on the FD, confirm those teeth numbers and you have a 4.785 final drive.

4.7 = 67 tooth
4.4 = 66 tooth
4.25 = 64 tooth
