CHEATER SLICKS ARE ALSO CALLED DRAG RADIALS ..HERE IN CALI..HOW BOUT THE LAUNCHING..IS 4 OR 5K RPM OK..? AND WHAT OTHER TUNINGS SHOULD I DO...BEFORE HITTING THE TRACKS..?
cheater slicks are basically a bias ply "street" tire. you know the slicks that have grooves cut in them so they can be a street tire.

i really want to see what i'll hit with street tires..1st but i also want to use drag radials (aka cheater slicks)..to see if the improvement is alot better..without going to full slicks..

i noticed you have a all motor gsr hatch..what are your times..and what did you do..before the races...?..i'm trying to get more prep.for it....what else do you have in your car...i just have a stock jdm itr 00'..in an eg..and skunk2 cam gears..and i might buy a CAI but still debating over the mugen or spoon filter box..or drop in filter..do they work..?..
I have the exact same set up. jdm itr in my eg.
bone stock and i just put the motor in a month ago.
i actually just came back from carlsbad this past saturday and ran 12.9 all day slicked down. 13x8 M&H slicks on 13 inch weld racing wheels.
i just advanced the intake sprocket to two and messed with the fuel pressure.
I was getting 1.8 60fts on that set up and think i could have hit a 12.7 but it started raining. once you feel full on slicks.... you won't want anything else.

I have a 92 si eg and 00' jdm itr motor was just recently installed..and i just recently changed to synthetic oil after breaking in the motor...and i was told that the 98 and up jdm itr motors have about 210hp and 190 to the wheels..and with exhaust and cam sprockets..would it make a difference..would i break into the mid 13s with street tires..already?..
I always thought cheater slicks were like E.T. Streets or something, not drag radials.
Xtreme Motion: I have a JDM ITR motor swapped into my four door and it put down 177whp with intake and exhaust so those numbers may be a little high. The ratings on a JDM ITR are always different from website to website. I believe 200 crank HP would be pretty accurate. In Japan, they test the motors with higher octane fuel than we use so that maybe where the extra 5-10hp comes from over a US ITR. Oh yeah, my car ran a 14.3 at 97MPH on street tires so you should definately be able to get into the 13s with some decent rubber considering the weight differences between our two cars.

Lol, thanks man. It's really all in the launch. I've run as slow as 14.8 at 93 with the exact setup, just with improper launching.
Preloading the clutch has also made a great difference on times.
-When you get to the line, stage up and pull up your e-brake
-Set your RPMs wherever you plan on launching at (I launch at around 5800-6000 on street tires)
-Put your car in first slowly start letting up the clutch until you feel the car start to squat
-Wait until about the second yellow light and start releasing the ebrake while slowly releasing the clutch, DON'T JUST DROP IT (This will take a few tries to perfect)
I've been able to pull as low as 2.1 60' on Dunlop FM-901 street tires (195/55R15)
Hope that helps ya out some.

when i launch on drag radials i usually dump the clutch at 5k rpm (22spi)
thats been my best result
i beleive your eg si weighs around 2300 or so
not as light as the vx and cx which are 2080 or 2040 i beleive
the dx weighs around 2200.
my ek dx coupe weighs 2359 (STOCK)
So with your weight you should be able to hit low low 14's if not high 13's with
a little weight reduction
Remember 100 pounds is a .1
As for your cam gears +1intake -1 exhaust cant go wrong with these settings .
Set your distributor timing to 14 degrees
Very good on your set up.
What suspension mods do you have?
Whats limiting me from really good sixty foots on streets is stock shocks and soft 4 years old RSR springs

so these street slicks are basically slicks just with grooves in them.
im shure at the track they pretty much yield the same performance...right?
there is just a slightly smaller contact patch on the street slick
these are really dot aproved? got proof?
do they turn into full on slicks after one burnout like the hoosiers?

Hi ekhybrd if you are talking about the M&H P205/60-13 = 7.5/22.8-13 yes they are D.O.T. Certified, Tube Type, Nylon Cord, Black Wall, load Range B and if you want to see what it looks like go to my web site and I have some pic's of the dot and it has the M&H-Racing Compound. Now if you are going to palmdale I will bring a set out to you so you can look @ them.
Thank You & Good Luck.
