Default rally civic wheel/tire questions

Can anyone recomend a good wheel/tire combo for gravel and snow that could take rally-like abuse? I was thinking of running 15x6 steelies, but what size tire is good for these. Does anyone have any cons to using a wheel like this?

I did find these tires.

lol i dont think civic and rally should belong in the same sentence...just buy an old subaru if u wanna go tearin it up in the dirt and snow. lol why dont you just buy the tires from tire rack. and i would just use steelies because there no point to buying good wheels when they are just going to get fucked up.

why does everyone think that as soon as you say rally you have to have 4wd? That's like saying to road race you should have only rwd!

I'm using a civic because I own one... there for no cost. How about if you buy me the car I'll use it.

So since you are obviously replying to me with no knowledge of it... I'll help educate by pointing you to some civic rally car:

Yokohama makes the A034 and WR26 Winter rally tires which are good for shallow snow and snow/gravel combo. I wouldn't use them on the street though

I'd get some cheap 15" alloy wheels. They'll be lighter weight and stronger than 15" steelies.

Yes, people do rally race Civics:

Thanks for the replies. I'll definatly check out those tires mentioned above.

Kind of changing the subject... I didn't search yet either. What would be the best way to get a pretty close 50/50 weight distribution on the car. I know I'll have to add weight to the back, which is fine. But how do I actually mesure when it's balanced???

For some reason I thought I read something a long time ago that you balance in an X pattern. So mesure it from front driver to rear passanger. Is that correct or am I way off?

and i also put before i said that "i dont think civic and rally should be put in the same sentence" it was just my honest opinion. i would rather have a 4wd car for rally. reason being is that they will get more traction and be a lot more fun in my opinion. am i allowed to state my opinion? yes i did read the forum rules. - one more time for a true stunna

on;y if you have experience to back it up.

Civics have been proven to be great rally cars, along with Integras, etc. Sure it's a little harder to work with, but can still be very competitive

Thank you.

And to eksnatchback:
I wasn't flamming you.... I just think if you have no clue what you are talking about then you shouldn't bother posting a response. Simple as that. I'm not about bickering on a message board.... I'm looking for factual information on something, which is what I come here for. You obviously did not post anything informative. <sarcasim>So take y0 peeps straight up back ta da hood y0!</sarcasim> When you write something... try in english. What the fsck is a `stunna'

But, to all the people that actually posted INFORMATION, thank you.

Thats a west coast honda challenge car. AFAIK, its not a rally car. Go with the kumho rally tires and get them mounted on steelies at tirerack.com

I'd love to see pics of your car when you're through with it. I think Civic rally cars are very cool.

Too bad almost all the threads on honda-tech turn into name-calling flame wars. It's like almost no one can suck up their ego enough to take some criticizm. A lot of people need to lighten up ... there's a lot of info that could be posted on here without having to wade through neck-high bullshit.

You are correct!!! Which is why I don't come on here much anymore. I'm just starting this car.... I've started pulling the interior out and I'm going to weld everything up to give her some strength.

Evetually I would like to enter into the group 2 class scca events.

I don't know about a rally car, but either 195/50/15 or 205/50/15 is what a lot of people use. I'm running the latter, and it rubs just a hair if it's being driven very hard. I would guess that you'd want a bit more sidewall for a rally car. Maybe a 195/55/15? Maybe bigger?
