Default For those who shaved their antenna....

4 years ago, I broke my antenna when I forgot to turn off my radio and went into a carwash I KNOW, at that time I was dumb enough to go into a machine wash since I didn't know how much damage it can cause to paint. Anyways, it bent and broke and blah blah blah. So instead of fixing the antenna, I decided to get it shaved off a couple of months later when I got a new paint job. I'm starting to get tired of not being able to have clear reception all the time, and thats the reason for this thread.

My question is, since I don't have an antenna, how can I boost my radio signal? I really want to use the setup like Accords (95, forgot the generation, where the antenna is like a sticker in the rear window). Do any of you (those who are experts/knowledgable in this area) think I can just use an amplifier with another amplifier of some sort...like a signal booster boosting another amplifier? For those who shaved their antenna...what did you guys do?

Any input would be appreciated...I know people will flame me for shaving my antenna, but I did it 4 years ago so give me a break. Thank you.

I believe the 96-97 accords have the builtin attenna on the windshield feature. Yea I got my attenna hole shaved too because it doesn't look clean. I was hoping in the future to convert to XM radio that's why i did it in the first place. As far as a way to boost the regular attenna, I think you have no options bro and I've never heard of any. But I just remembered something, have you seen those attennas that mount onto your windshield (the ones that they use for tv-tuner setups)? Maybe you can use that attenna of some sort. They cost about 20 bucks or so and you can find them off of ebay. Check it out. Good luck

Cheers

I just saw on Crutchfield's website an antenna booster. I had my antenna shaved and I installed an internal antenna underneath where the original one was.

Go out and get yourself satellite radio. Mount that antenna in the back window or on the front dash. Trust me, it will be a worthwhile investment. $200 for an average Kenwood in-dash unit, $50 for an antenna, free tuner (w antenna purchase) and $12 a month for service.

for SIRIUS and no commercials.

Why would anyone flame for shaving the antenna?

Another option is to go with an amplified roof-mounted antenna like the Fubas. Gets great reception and you can also swap out the long antenna mast for a shorter one like the S2K's.

WOW...people are hijacking the thread now and recommending me to get an s2000 antenna. wait i should have thought about that BEFORE I SHAVED IT. only if they were available 4 years ago then it would have been an option. the hole is welded up if you still dont get what im trying to say.

anyhow, i might consider the fubar antenna, and as far as xm radio goes... its not for me, i can barely stand commercial chit, i just want to be able to recieve stations when im not playing cds. as for the internal antenna booster, can you please provide me with more info?
Thanks!
