Broken driver-side power window in a '94 Ex
This weekend the power window in my girl's '94 Ex gave out. It got stuck when it was half-way down, and would not move up or down after that. It rained here, so I had to get the window back up somehow. So, I took off the door panel, and saw that one of the cables that run the window was snapped, and the other one was tangled up and was preventing the window from moving. I had to cut it to get the window to slide out, and zip-tied it to the door for now so she can continue using the car.
I assume that the motor/regulator unit is still working, as it makes noise when it's connected to the switch. However, the cables are now snapped/cut, and I can't tell if they can be replaced, or if the whole unit is shot and I'd need a new one to get it working again. Here is the pic of the unit I pulled out from the door:

I tried looking inside the door panel, but the visibility is very limited, and I have no idea where to start. Do I have to remove the window to get everything working again? Can I replace the cables, or do I need to replace the whole unit now that it's broken?
Could someone please post instructions/how-to on how I can get the window working again? And, if anyone could scan the diagram out of Helms of the pulley/cable mechanism inside, I'd really appreciate that.
TIA

I'm sorry to hear about that. That really sucks. If you notice here in the diagram, Honda will not sell just the cable to you. They sell the whole unit 3 or 10 depending on which side it is. HondaAutomotiveParts sells it for $108. I woudl think you have a better chance finding it at a junk yard. As far as a close up diagram on it, I'll have to get a hold of my helms and see if I can get it scanned.
Damnit, just as I suspected.
I called a junk yard on friday, and they quoted me $110 for a used unit, which is why I was wondering if I could replace the cables only. So, I'll just get one from hondaautomotiveparts.com.
Thank's a lot for posting the pic. It would be great to get a close-up diagram, so please post that if you can. I have no idea how to run the cables on the pulleys once the new unit is in, or how to remove the window to get to the pulleys in the first place.

Hey, I got my manual (sorry I don't have a scanner BUT I DO have a good digital camera I can take pics of each page for you. I tested it and it's very readable). However, if you want good quality photocopies of them, I suggest going to your local honda dealer. If you ask to see any of their helms manual, they will gladly show it to you and even let you photo copy any of the pages.
If you still want pics from my manual, let me know. It's fairly long.

Thanks for your help man. I'll head down to the dealer tomorrow and see if they can help me out. If not, I'll PM or email you so you can take those pics. Again, thanks for looking that up for me.
usually regulators from a junkyard are only ~$15 bucks. Sounds like a "dismantler" was trying to rip you off.
try some of these...www.switchboard.com

There is no doubt they were trying to rip me off. All Honda junkyards around here are infamous for their shady *** tactics.
A couple years ago, when I was looking for a rear disc conversion for my Civic, the same ******* tried telling me that the rear disc assy from a rusted wreckage of a 90 integra would work on my car, but would not agree to taking it back in case it didn't work out. He also wanted $400 for it all (MC/booster/prop valve not included), and wanted me to take it all off myself.
So, I'd much rather spend $110 at hondaautomotiveparts.com than have this bastard see any of my money at all.
Thanks for posting the link though, I'll definitely look around there first.
