Default A mazda done right...

These are some pics of a members car, boosteddr. It's not a honda, but it's a damn nice fwd drag car none the less!!! He'll chime in here with some specs on it. Although i've given him recommendations on stuff, i'm not familiar enough with his engine setup to tell you what he's got. The car is from canada, so most people will probably only have to worry about him a couple races out of the year

Very nice work , Im not trying to talk **** or be a *** hole, but what are the advantages of mounting the ignition module so close to the exhaust / front of the car?

What's up guys, thanks Tony for posting the pics and the kind words. Even tho it isen't a Honda, its still a fwd drag car and i have to say Honda tech is by far the best compact drag forum
Don't worry guys i am also an guy as my street car is a Type r with a 62dash1 turbo
Yeah i know alot of you guys will proabably remember me from the mx3, it was featured in SCC and Turbo mag in 98 an 99, i brought it to a couple of races in NJ and PA back in the day when Nira and Tony Fuchs where common names.

The motor is not a BP like i had in the mx3. It is a Fe3, it is a japan spec 2.0 motor that makes 170hp and 148lb/ft stock. It is 10to1 compression from the factory. Mazda never imported those engines to north america. They are based on the 88to 92 626and mx6 blocks meaning that i can use the Turbo tranny, the strongest tranny Mazda makes. The motor is available in North america in the Kia sportage, yes it is a detuned version of the japan motor.

The chassis has been done since a couple of months already. It has fiberglass rear door skins, trunk, carbonfiber dash, one piece front end.

With a leaky head gasket, it made 402whp@13 pounds
I have been battling the head gasket for months now, without succes. I am running a sce copper gasket with a o'ringed head and a receiving groove in the block. That motor isent like the bp, it doesent come with a metal gasket from the factory, its a paper one
As i have told Tony i am trying hard to find someone who knows someone at Cometic gaskets so i can have a mls gasket made. I called there and was quoted 3to4 grand.... my sce gasket cost me 1 grand and thats the max i will pay.

The Ignition box is mounted in the front near the battery and coils, so that way the wires are as short as possible and the box is far away from the engine management cpu, minimazing the chances of noise getting in the cpu.

If you guys have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah Gary G, if you read this, from a mapquest search it seems that Turbopeople is only 3 to 4 hours from here, i will give him a call soon, put a kind word in for me

Dave

I remember your car from a few years back. One of the fastest non-rotary Mazda around. Can't wait for the 2.0's debut!

Looks very nice, hope to see it run next year. Maybe you'll come down to Englishtown. Looks good, except the intake faces the wrong way.

Sorry but Dave never ran a 10's pass, his best is 11.11 spinning all 1/4. And I don't think he'll ever run 10's, he's going to do 9's right out of the box
