Default a/c removal

Here's my problem, im getting headers that dont clear my a/c, so I need to take it out. I have the haynes manual, but it wasnt too clear on the procedure, I searched the forums to see if anyone had asked this question before. I also checked on team integra, with no luck. Does anyone know where I could find a deatailed description of the process? Or a link to a forum or article that discusses it? Any help would be great, thanks.

If you DIY, you gotta have a shop discharge the frion, its illegal to do it in your own home, plus its bad for the environment. Unless you want to be hardcore, and you dont care..do it at night

r12 is indeed illegal to discharge into the atmosphere. but are you sure r134a is illegal to discharge as well? it does not deplete the ozone and is sold in stores.

Hey man i've just removed my a/c very simple. the first thing is you should go to a a/c garage to get the discharge then when your at home start to disconnect the lines from the compressor theirs a couple that run infront of your rad saddle that you gotta take out but leave the Power Steering line it's the only line that's got the fins on it. then Start to disconnect the lines on the condensor rad then pull it out. Now look up by your passenger side shook tower theirs a black cover on the fire wall take that out and you'll see the a/c lines running into the car unscrew them and take out the lines if you get lost just run your hands along one of the main a/c lines that are on top of your header it should lead to where i'm taking about. You will also see the high and low pressure lines these are the ones that have a lil red *** on one line and a lil black *** on the other line follow them and disconnect them. Now if you go back to by your washer fluid holder just infront if it theirs a canister that looks like a beer can you have to removed that too. Now Back to your compressor start by taking out the main bolts on it, look at your haynes manual it should show you how then when you have the belt left just cut it. If you really want to finish the removal go to the glove box in your car and take out the glove box theirs a big black box witch when you pull it out you'll see the a/c lines that you disconnect from the firewall their. Theirs a replacement piece you have to buy to replace that box but i can't remember the part number hope this helps

you can fill the big hole on your firewall if you get the grommet from a non a/c 92-95 civic. And also you can build an oil catch can w/the aluminum recirculation reservior.

ya i would think you would be able to plug the holes as for the catch can it would work i guess if you get the same cylinder as the a/c one

yeah, well my system had a leak in it since i got it, so i never used the actual ac anyways. i just roll down the windows. I have the official amount of weight that the ac system took off, it was right around 37 lbs i think. And i drove it today, i actually did feel a little bit of a difference, it wasnt a huge diff, but enough to tell.
