Default My new baby - Hello M3 - Goodbye GSR

I am so excited I had to post. I just got back from San Jose (I'm in San Diego) after picking up my 1998 M3. It's 5 spd, mint, stock other than intake and X-Brace, and only has 28k on the ODO. The car is so badass. Gotta love the vaders! I met the owner on the net and actually stayed at his house this weekend. He was an awesome guy that loved his car.

edit: New Pics up! old ones removed.

Well, money says no to rims for now. Maybe a little drop and a black grill, hids and angel eyes might not be out of the question either.

Plus, those M Contours with the fat rear lip look great.

Well....only because it was worth it: $24k. But that's the high end of the price range.

Those cars are real nice. But a lot of my friends' dads have had those and they say they didn't like them.. They were fast, yes, but E36s are known not to last as long as the other bmws.. I personally think the e30 m3 is the greatest m3.. and the older M5.. oh yes.. even the m6..

Cool... both cars are clean. But think of it this way (especially being in So Cal), the bimmer is less likely to get jacked, where as the Integra you always have to worry about it where ever you park.

Fast is fast, and from the looks of it, that car was babied. This thing will last him a while.

I have thought about the theft part. It's nice not worrying as much.

-To the guy that commented about e36 not lasting long...posting "I heard from some guy" comments doesn't make you sound any smarter. Yes, BMW's are more expensive than honda. But if you properly maintain the vehicle it will easily last as long, or longer than the honda motor. And E30 m3's are badass but if you are concerned about the E36 longevity you better run away from the E30 m3.

awesome, just get rid of those tires ASAP... IMHO Kumho Ecsta 712's aren't worthy of a BMW, especially an M3

The M3 is damn clean. I for one would not mind to have that for a daily driver! Great choice and good taste, might I add! I think it looks perfect as-is.

I was hesitant about the kumhos too. I had them on the GSR and they were "okay". Nothing amazing or anything. I used to own a 328is before the teg and it had some Potenza RE730's on it. In comparing those to the kumhos on the M. The potenzas had more stick but they had wussy sidewalls. So far, these kumhos are okay and I will likely drive them until they are ready to die. Not sure what I will replace with though. All the M guys complain about the Es100's too. My test drive was actually in the rain on Saturday and the kumhos did okay, but even 30% throttle around a tight corner had the tail step out...even with the ASC on, LOL. But in the dry, so far so good.

The car never had anyone in the back seat and it shows. It looks brand new. The vaders look perfect too...that's a rarity on a 5 year old car. The X-brace really stiffens up the front end on this car. I drove one without it and it was much looser. It reminds me of the night and day diff the Type-R sway did to the GSR...same price too. I just can't believe how easy this car goes from 80 to 115 in fifth. I did it numberous times on the way home while passing people. I didn't even have to downshift going up the grapevine doing 80-100. (For those familiar with So Cal)

M6? Huh? Never heard of one of those. Then again I'm not real big on BMW.

The M3 looks good though. No missing the GS-R at all?

Well...since I had GC/AGX and a type R sway on the teg the handling was slot car like. That was fun but just not every day. It got old...or maybe I'm getting old. And the scream of VTEC to 8100 was fun too. Tegs still rule in my book...Maybe when I have too much money I'll buy another one for a project/race car.

im not sure exactly, but m6 was made a long \*** time ago, lioke the lkate 70s early 80s, back when there was a 6 series bimmer, like the 660ci etc.

Nice m3, the interior looks absolutely SPOTLESS. and yes that car appears to have been babied like NO other. good find
