well after several discussions, it looks like i might have landed my first sponsor. they wont necessarily back me financially but use me for helping market their product (head porting and new valves). we havent finalized what the terms will be but it sounds like we have a general idea of what both me and the company wants.

im not goin to release the name quite yet cause the valves are comin from left field if u know what i mean.

we are goin to try to grab the local market of guys that actually want to go fast and not just look fast. then we hope to compaign a little farther out into the rest of the country. the guy doesnt have enough time in the day to answer the phone for ricer calls, he wants serious racers calling his shop so thats why we are goin to keep it small and simple for right now. thanx though.

thanx guys, i was pretty happy that it was even offered to a small town guy like myself. the last guy that was goin to "market" his headwork was all talk. the car went fast, but no decals, no mention of sponsorship. all they did was plug their own shop. at one point on their website they were claiming the CNC head porting was their work
we havent finalized everything yet, but i will hopefully in the near future do a dyno run of a b4 and after of his headwork untuned. the only real problem is i currently have a 01 ITR head and i will b switching to a 01 GSR head with mikes headwork. it wont b an exact comparison cause of the head swap and intake manifold but i hope that ppl will realize that .3 compression pts and the skunk2 IM wont make that much change. i hope the test will show how good the headwork actually is.

someone else asked how i got sponsored. well it was pretty easy really. i called the shop where mike works. talked to him about his work (P@P) got off track, talked about the "other team" that was goin to promote his business. to make a long story short, here i am, ha. seriously it was basically just like that. i asked more or less jokingly, he offered me the sponsorship a few days later. how much more could i ask for??? almost too easy.

heck in fact, at this point hes never even seen my car. all he knows is i ran 13 events, placed in 6 of them. ive done all my own work and im almost in the 11s. i can run pro tree, sportsman tree and anything in between. im good on all trees. thats the only thing he knows about me. never even met him yet. sounds unbelievable, but its all true.

I've had a stereo shop and a "cd" techno/rave shop, used my car for their advertisement. In the end, I got a $600 stereo, that I have no clue how to tune it, free tires, free CD's and clothing, free gift ceriticate.

In all, the key to obtain sponsership is to be positive with everything you do (including going to a bath-room at AppleBees, a young kid stops you to talk about your car, not knowing that his dad owns a bank or something) , no matter what customers can bring in, either rice or not. It boils down to $$$.

bert i know exactly what u mean. i had some of the dumbest questions ever asked about my car last yr. is it turbo?? is that an H22??? is it on noxide???? yes that is what they said. o cool u have shaved door handles. then they thought the dzus fasteners for the front end were the locks. last but not least, are u from washington??? no dumbshit, the trailer has WA plates, the truck has WA plates and the ****** car has WA plates, WTF???
