Hondata Intake Manifold Gasket???
Yo guys,
Just wondering about this. I here that hondata makes some sort of plastic intake manifold gasket and that because of the material that it's made of and the thickness it gives you close to 6 (give or take) whp. I'm told it's because it keeps the heat from the head of the motor from heating the intake manifold. is this true or is it a bunch of b.s.? i could be wrong on some aspects of this, most likly the hp #.

no bs- its true. the gasket helps keep the intake manifold cooler by reducing heat transfer between the head and mani. its something like 20 or so degrees cooler that its supposed to make the mani, resulting in like 5 percent hp gain. i have one, i dont know exaclty how much horse it added cause i had it installed with a bunch of other mods, but it does keep the mani a little cooler.
http://www.an-r.com same thing as hondata but cheaper.
The AN-R race gaskets fit better than the Hondata Race gaskets, so you won't need to modify them (as much - I found a port shoulder section that needed a little grinding). I don't know about the street stuff tho. I've never used those.

The ANR gasket, according to their website, is not made out of the same material as Hondata's gasket.
Their R & D department seems to have copied verbatim text from Hondata's website to describe their product. In my mind this would cast some doubt on their R&D, if indeed there was any. But, as they say; imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
We have not had any reported fitment problems with any of our street gaskets. The misalignment in the race gasket was fixed some time ago.
You can read the original information here.

Just put one on a GSR, no problems ! wont be able to tell the HP#'s due to a few more parts being added at the same time !
But I have seen ppl get some pretty decent #'s from just this mod, it basicly gets rid of the heat soak since the material is able to disapate heat!

I believe that gasket is the race type which blocks off the coolant going to the manifold. the street type is already cut out. hth

I've been using the same hondata gasket for over 2 years...I picked up 5whp, but that was with deleting the coolant lines running through the tb. We got tons of them in stock, but we sell them for the same price as hondata. If you find a good price give us a call, we might be able to price match.

You can get them through Hondata , but if your serious about getting one you should also look in to the company Nextgear they make one just like it but supposedly better they it cools 40% more than Hondata. Heres a thread on it

Can you just do that with a OEM gasket. I've never ran the coolant lines/hose through the T/B and IACV.

Ok, this sounds far fetched and not real, but hear me out. This last summer I was at a RSD (real street drags) at a track. There was a guy there that I knew threw the net. A bunch of my friends know him for awhile. We were standing around talking to him by his car (8.xx sec. chevy 2). When there wasn't alot of people around he said "you know why I am so fast" I said why? He said (as he pointed to his carb spacer) "because of that" I was like ok... He said that carb spacer is one of four in the US. I was still like ok... He said that carb spacer is a tile off of the Spaceshuttle. (you know the heat tiles on the front of the shuttle) He said when the temp outside is under 55 F when the car runs the carb frosts up. (Now that is cold!) After he made a pass on the track I went over and felt the carb on his car. It was cool, just like when you go out to your car in the morning and feel the motor.
So anyhow. Ever since that day I have been keeping my ears open for one of these tiles.
Anyone know what the tiles are made of? Or have one in there basement? LOL
