A guy I know used the bumper antenna switch (the one on the right) for the same thing. Kinda cool I guess.

well your antenna can bend when youre driving playing a cd. especially on the freeway. push the rocker switch up and down and it retracts...works fine, and it wont leak like some s2k antennas

edit: the antenna wire is yellow with a green stripe

i did one with a rocker switch i placed by the ebrake..those little rectangle pieces..

radio shack has these tiny circle rocker switches..

but now i have another alpine deck that doesn't make the antenna go up till the radio hehe

Thats a good spot for switches, I have three there. One for antenna, one for amps and one for my radar detector.

I think most aftermarket headunits automatically switch off the power antenna output when you change to anything other than radio.

is there a way of doing this without putting a switch. I just want to cut some wire and keep the thing down for good, because I don't use my radio anyway.

Pull back the panel in the trunk and just unplug the harness, while the antenna is down of course.
