review of action 1ks
i purchased the action 1ks from ksmotorsports, i dont know why people raving about there customer service it wasnt that great.. anywayz just my luck the clutch kit i got was correct for my car except for the clutch disk itself so i had to waste an extra $20 for nextday air shipping to action clutch in ca.. guess it was packed wrong just my bad luck i ended up with that..
first impressions:
wow! i couldnt belive how much lighter the pedal felt! well after using a cm stage4 for 11 months i guess any clutch would of felt lighter lol but i was suprised how well it grabed.. it actually took some time getting used to it, i was stalling my car at almost every light during the first couple days lol although it was performing well on the street i wanted to see what it was really made of at the track.. i gave it a 800 mile break in period before i head out..
performance at the track:
as we all know kevlar disc is not good for drag racing.. but i figured since i would have to wait 45min- 1hr for a run that would give it enough time for the disc to cool.
my first run with it i was suprised how well it held the power! shifting gears at 8700 rpms was much easier than before and was now able to ride the clutch at pull off instead of on and off stage 4. it was holding up fine until after the 3rd run when it started to slip in 4th =o( i called it a night and returned the next weekend.. no problems until the 5th run.. guess it cant take back to back runs but it performs great after 30 minz of cooling in 70degree weather.
conclusion:
this clutch is great if your planning on having a car with just bolt ons.. excellent clutch for an autoxer. maybe i should of went with the 2ks because ive never heard of a cm stage 3 slip on them at the track, it might of lasted a bit longer.. i chose this clutch cause i liked the feeling of not worrying about clutch wear and taken alot of abuse =op i also like autoxing more than drag.. i'm happy with the 1ks, its perfomance is great and belongs on a track car, not a drag car =o)

I agree, I got sent a wrong pp and an oversized adjustment tool for the disc.

i dont know the lb pressure plate but its a single diaphram.. you have the dual, i guess that would make your pedal stiffer.. makes me wonder if the 2ks would of held up better

bump so a 2ks has a dual diaphragm? is that the only difference? How different is the pedal feel of a 2ks compare to an HDSS?

I've never driven a car with HDSS, but the 2ks is rated at 3000lbs dual diaphram.
I believe the 2ks could hold 300lbs of tq, the 1ks could hold 200lbs tq, the 1MD 250 lbs
I've had the 2ks clutch for over 2 years now, the only issues which have popped up is the clutch hose has gone bad (probably from the increased pressure, no biggie it was expected) and it sounds like the throw out bearing might be going out
. Overall though the clutch is five stars and hase been through alot of drag days

The "2" series clutches are dual diaphragm, while the "1" series are single diaphragm. The "2" are about 100% firmer than stock and the "1" are 30% firmer than stock pedal pressure. If you guys have any questions about the Action Clutches then just let me know, and Ill try to answer them for you.
