Default Pr3 ecu

I've discovered I have a PR3 ECU in my 88 Rex with a B16. Is this a good ECU? Should I get another or have it reprogrammed? If it needs to be reprogrammed who is good?

That ecu is just fine thats the one that comes with the motor in Japan .. Plus there are several people that can put a good rom tune on that ecu for you for under 150$..

I went to http://www.locashracing.com and got a Mugen program with an altered VTEC cross-over. Very happy with it!!

No reprogramming it allows you to rev higher, go over 110, modify your vtec x-over, and remaps your fuel. These things give you the potential to unlock more power with mods such as bigger cams. I'll let you know how I like it when my pr3 comes back. I've only heard good things about the mugen program I sent mine to Locash myself hopefully it will return unscathed, the Crisis in NYC probally screwed up the UPS system, I'll probally see it by the time i'm ready to store it for winter. I could be wrong but that is my luck.

There have been some reviews, but basically the program knocks out the rev limit, speed limiter and reprograms the fuel available (gen. more of it) which really do not have greatest effect on power until you are flowing more air with cams, headwork, compression, etc.....Overall, I like mine a lot.

I have a 91 EX 4 dr. and the other day ran away from a new Celica GTS with my lightly modded b16a - top end power took care of that a--.....
