1st & 2nd gen b16
the gen 1 has the shittiest vtec cams EVER and the gen 2 has GSR cams.
The design of the gen 2 intake manifold is also designed bettter and flows more.

Just the Japanese ones, the US 93+ and the Europeon ones have 160PS, as opposed to the JDM 170PS.

1st & 2nd gen JDM B16's are slighlty different.
Powerwise though, the differences come from the camshafts, pistons, & ecu tuning/electronics.
1st gen (89-91) = PR3 pistons (10.2cr) 160hp OBD type, cam profiles are rather weak especially on the Auto version.
2nd gen (92-00) = P30 pistons (10.4cr) 170hp OBD1 & OBD2 type, cam profiles are upgraded and are definitely better than 1st gen cams. The upgraded OBD1+OBD2 ecu tuning also helps in the 10hp increase in power.
As for the US, we only get the 2nd gen B16A, we never got the 1st gen. But, just about everything between a US & JDM 2nd gen B16 are identical except for these things:
- US uses PR3 pistons instead of P30's (yeah, we get lower 10.2cr ..woo)
- US OBD1 P30 ecu programming slightly differs than JDM P30 programming, due to compensate for lower octane ratings we have in the US.
- US OBD2 B16 engines added more sensors for emmissions related bs the ecu's programming reflected this change; still uses the PR3 piston though. JDM OBD2 B16A engines don't use these additional sensors; and still use a P30 piston. We never got the P30/10.4cr pistons
