Yeah. In fact I've seen a Recaro version (not the TypeR seat) in court, the judge was sitting on it

I made one of those a while back. Just got some metal from Lowes and welded it up. You have to get the butt area right down the center of the base. You're right, you can't recline it too far. It isn't as comforable as you think since the seat was designed to have your legs slightly elevated (relative to normal office seating position) like in a car.
