Default curb weight vs. gvwr

Is their a difference between the two . Also to find out what a car weights i was once told "sounds fishy" you have to minus what they give you for max weight capacity from the gvwr but now that i think of it That definetly could not be true. Or is it

Curb weight most often refers to the vehicle weight "wet" - including fluids, full tank etc.. no driver though.

GVW = Gross Vehicle Weight - the total capacity your vehicle is designed to carry - The GVW of a boat is the most it will carry and still opperate without sinking and so on. The GVW of a vehicle is the amount the original suspension, tires(tyres if in the UK) and chassis were inteded to carry.

About the GVWR - payload = vehicle weight --- this is close but not the actual weight of the vehicle. Often it can vary as much as 100 pounds. Which is surprising because you would think the GVWR - payload would equal the vehicle weight.
