upgrade my stock JDM ITR throttle body?
motor is a JDM ITR (11.1 CR)
Skunk2 stage 1 cams + gears
AEBS intake manifold
AN-R compact header
J's racing intake
Hondata s100
The car is put away for the winter, so I will be doing some upgrades to the engine. I will be using the AEBS intake manifold, which has a 65 mm inlet size.
I am currently using a JDM ITR throttle body which tapers from 68 mm to 62 mm. I am considering having the stock throttle body bored out to 70 mm tapered to 66 mm. I would also bore out the inlet on the AEBS manifold to 66 mm. The motor WILL be tuned in the spring with the new setup.
What do y'all think? Upgrade the throttle body or no?

From what I've seen and expericences, stock engine bore (81mm) with somewhat beefier cams, make between 2-4hp throughout the rpm, is it worth? You tell me.
A old customer of mine/friend, made 197hp on a 11.5:1 comp with a stock 62mm T/B(s2000), aka RainmanEK, somewhat similiars to yours minus the hondata. Tuning done by Kenji.
A bigger t/b is more benefical on a 2.0L or bigger, i.e 68-70mm where you need the extra air.
Just a penny or two.

Do you have experience with this T.B? On what motor?

For 2.0L+ you MIGHT see gains from a larger TB</TD></TR></TABLE>
Should I just slap the 62 mm ITR TB on the 65 mm AEBS manifold?
I suppose its not an issue because the path of air travel is INCREASING in size and not bottlenecking.

I would do it. I just put my Sppon TB on my 99 Si and I have really enjoyed it. No Dyno numbers but it definately feels a lot better. Just my thoughts.
I would stick with the ITR TB. The step from the TB to your Intake (AEBS) won't be an issue, actually it may help "tumble" the air as it enters. A few people I know will often increase the IM inlet just to get this effect.
I would suggest a bigger TB if you increase compression to 12:1 or higher with 81mm bore, or if you go 84mm or larger bore only.....unless it's a race only, high rpm motor, in which case, your compression will be much higher, so again refer to what I said earlier
Good luck.
