Sounds like your power booster has a vacuum leak. Does it fell like you have to push the brakes any harder to get them to work?

If the booster is leaking, you'll need to replace the booster with a new or used one (should be able to find a good one at the junkyard if you're short on $$). You can check to see if the booster is indeed leaking by unplugging the large vacuum hose from the booster, and hook up a vacuum pump with a gauge (hand pump works fine), pull a small vacuum and see if it holds or not. It shoudn't leak AT ALL. If it goes down any, even after letting it sit for awile, it is leaking and will need to be replaced. If it stays at the exact amount of vacuum for a long time then the booster is fine, but it sounds like a booster issue from what you describe.

btw.... where in S. FL are you at?

i noticed that if i'm idle, and i pump my brakes really fast, the rpm's will go up a couple hundred, but not from 700 to 1500...thats a big jump.

btw, i have a 92 ex.
