I Checked the dipstick, dry like a mother.....
I have resently drove my car for about 1,000 miles now. And when i just checked my oil yesterday, i had wiped the dipstick off with a napkin, and proceeded to dip it in again and out came nothing!! the stick was dry as fAWK! I use Mobil 1 Synthetic to change my oil, why is my oil so dry? why is it gone like that? is this normal?

Yea wassup with taht, i seen a thread about how many integra owners switch to Castrol cuz mobil 1 was always burning..

check for a leaky cam seal, oil pan gasket. if those aren't showing signs of oil leaking then i have news for you, our integras gsr and r specifically are known to go through at least a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. ask any Acura Master tech and they will tell you the same thing. also a lot of pwople don't fill up the oil pan enough. they measure before they start the car which is wrong. the oil hasn't been cycled into the filter until you start it up. that is the reason the engine calss for 4.2 quarts. 4 quarts for hte engine and .2 for the filter. they eat through syn oil fster then conventional so always keep a quart around in the spare tire well. i check my oil everytime i fill up. vtec won't work without the proper oil pressure and a loss of oil won'tget you the pressure you need to kick open the vtec solenoid.

i might plan on just switching over to Castrol Synthetic.....but for now i'll go purchase a few more quarts just to be on the safe side.

Are you kidding me? Synthetic oil burns at a much higher temperate, typically around 500 degress higher than conventional oil. Turbo guys run conventional oil because it cannot handle the heat and burns off too easily. Perhaps you just are using an oil that has too low of a viscosity, don't be quick to blame Mobil 1. I run Mobil 1 and guarantee that I have a more demanding setup than you, and I never have any problems. Mobil 1 is the ****

Well, i just inputted 1 and a 1/4 quart of Mobil 1 right now and the dipstick shows minimum. The oil is still above the dot....so i'm kind of so fuckne confused here, did it really lose that much freakin oil? or wtf is going on ?
i'm not going to go ahead and conclude that Mobil 1 sucks ***, but i'm just wondering why my oil level is so low at such a rapid pace? i checked my car and there's nothing leaking really, everything's fine also i've been hitting V-TEC up and down and i mean the car seems fine, engine and all but why is it that when i was checking the dipstick it was so goddamn dry, oil didn't even touch it when i took it back out the 2nd time... really weird

Happened to me before too using Mobil1. It took my breathe away when I checked it because I wasn't even gonna check it but I was like eh why not, better to be safe then sorry. Low and behold, bone dry. I switched to castrol syntec on my next change and so far so good.

well it might seem i'm maybe, maybe 2 quarts low so i dunno, do u guys think i should go get a new oil change with Castrol Synthetic ASAP? or just keep running my Mobil 1 for a lil while?

Do you know who supplies honda? I was thinking of pulling a switcharoo and going back to fossil oil. I wanna talk to a honda engineer or something and get some JDM advice, y0.
This thread is worthless
Explain why Castrol Syntec of the same weight and viscosity of Mobil 1 would be less likely to burn off. Show me lab reports proving that it burns off at a higher temperature or something, all this hearsay means nothing. Ever consider using a thicker oil???

Different additives possibly, I dont know. Castrol syntec is a synthetic blend too, which means it has parts of synthetic and parts of fossil oil. That might give it the ability to not burn as quickly.

there is a range that a motor oil has to fit into in order to be labeled a 30wt. motor oil. mobil 1 is known to be on the lower end of the 30wt. scale, so this might be a reason almost everyone is losing oil w/ mobil 1.

AH, right there i was pondering about that also. i think i'll do that, my car has 120XXX anyway, i'm going regular motor oil, forget all this Synthetic crap.
