Default Best Fitting Header for B16 in CRX?

So what do you guys think is the best fitting header? I don't want to mess with my front cross member. Nor do I want to have the header slamming every curb I go over.

What Year, Make, and Model of car has a header that best fits the B16 in a CRX?

I am pretty familiar with brands, but some suggestions there would be good too.

Thanks in advance!

I have a DC 4-2-1 ceramic header and it's already starting to rust (7 monthes old) on my B16 hatch. Some mild modification to the cross member was necessary, though

Yea I don't see ya getting a header in there without beating your crossmember in a littlw bit. I have a Comptech 4-2-1 that I am going to use but I also ordered the Place Racing Crossmember so I don't have to worry about it. The header I bought is really for a 99-00 Civic SI if that helps any.

You shouldnt have a problem with any 4-2-1 header clearing the crossmemer as long as you get it for a B16. If you order it for a 99-00 si, it will even bolt to your cat. The only problem you will have is being short of one O2 bung. Best thing to do for that is get your ecu chipped, get rid of the speed limiter at the same time.

I had a DC stainless 4-2-1 on my crx when i had my B16A, it fit perfect, and even with teh car extremely low, It didnt scrape very often. I switched to a DC JDM 4-1 replica when I got my B16B, and it didnt last but like 5 months before it was dented all to hell.

Hey,

I've got a EE8 (german version of the EF8, stock with b16 engine). What header will just bold on even to the cat?-Will the 99-00 civic si do the job?

-I need 2 O2 bungs (1st and 2nd primary).Do I have to install the 2 O2 Sensors. Whats about chipping the ECU?-Dont you need the O2 Sensors anymore?

thanks for your time,
marc

Im not totally sure, but i think for that car you need to get a header for a '94 Del sol vtec if you want it to bolt up to the stock cat. With the stock PR3 or PW0 ecu you really need to run both O2 sensors, however with a chipped ecu, most programs only require the primary O2 sensor. Hope that helps...

I have a Greddy SS piece on my b18c hatch. NO mods were needed. The header was origanally for a 99-00 Si. Its a nice piece, turns a nice bronze color. And bolts right up to the cat.

So,with a chipped ecu I only need one O2 sensor?-
Where does this sensor install?-Before the cat or do I need to drill a hole in the first primary?

What chip is good and supports only one sensor ?

Thanks,
marc

I would get a dc 4-2-1(no clearence issues), and weld 2 o2 bungs in factory locations, and put a bolt in the o2 bung in the collector. Thats what I did, its great. Ryan

It will also depend what mount kit you're using. I believe that the hasport mount kit positions the motor farther back (good for turbos) so there should be more clearance for a larger header. Though now, most the mount kits out there now are about the same, so it may take a little cutting of the stock x-member to get some headers to fit.

I thought I remember the HCP kit positioning the motor in such a way that a Jackson supercharger was possible, but was not with the HASport kit. This was a number of years back though, so things may have changed.

I have an AN-r header. It fits in there pretty well and the ground clearance is awesome considering the collecter is located higher up in the header. There is only one pipe going beneath the oil pan. I think it doesnt clear the a/c or p/s pump. That should be no concern if you take it out though. Heard great gains with just the installation of the header alone. I haven't broken in the motor yet, so i don't what it's potential is. Hope this helps though. Good luck!

Let me guess, the an-R header is way more expensive than the DC Sports ? :D

Did anyone what to switch the side their fan was on. I had to move it to the passenger side with the DC 4-2-1. Not really a problem.

For starters I thought you could use the upper portion of the b16 header and your A pipe (downpipe).
