Kuhmo ECSTA Supra Opinions?????
If you're looking for a long-wearing tire, the 712's are a pretty good option. As stated, they don't offer the BEST dry grip, but they're pretty good in the rain, and they last forever. Plus, they look cool

The 712's don't look that cool to me. I decided to spend about $40 extra on my set of tires and got the ES100's. They look cooler IMHO and my friend who has had both tires said they are way better in all conditions.
I really don't like Parada tires either, the tread just makes it look like more of a show tire for some reason.

es100's are way better. get the ECSTA's if you are low on the dough... but dont expect them to last if you drive aggressively. I hear they get louder when the treads start to break in.
Honestly, i have them on my stock gsr wheels and they are barely broken in.

See sig.
I have had mine for a little over 2 months and I'm happy. I haven't driven them aggresive (i.e. taken them to the track) but they are good tires for the money. I think they look pretty cool too.

Great tire.
I've got about 20k on mine right now which includes 1 season of autox.
As far as street tires go, there isn't a better value around. If you autox they will work fine but you will be soon wondering why you can't catch the guys running Azenis.
Buying a tire for how it looks, jees. That's sad.
Cheers,
Roy

Actually the ES100's are $2 cheaper per tire(195/55/15) than the 712's from tirerack.com. At that price, get the ES100's and don't look back.

i have 17' 712 absoultey pleased with their performance, looks, ride they have lasted long for me treadwear os 280. everyone is comparing them to the yokohamas how are they for people "low on the dough" when they r cheaper than the kuhmo's but whatever get what you want id recommend kuhmos to anybody
I don't think they grip as well as my old Dunlop SP Sport W-10s, but they are quiter. From what I've read, however, people seem to like the ES100s better. Unfortunately they weren't out yet when I got my 712s.
I have had the 712s on both my cars, an Accord and GSR. For the money, I was pleased. I would agree on the fact that there is better out there. I have heard of the ES100s also, and I am curious to know how those compare.
I had Kumho 712's on my first set of rims. They lasted a pretty long time, but when they wore out, I decided to get something new. I spent a little more cash and bought some Michelin Sport Tires that ran me 150 a piece. Yes, the Michelin performed a lot better in many cases, but the kumho's were almost just as good. Since kumho's are such good tires for the price, when I wore out my Michelin's, I bought Kumho's once again and I love them.
A friend of mine totalled his GSR after getting a fresh set of replacement Kuhmo 712's on his car. Going down a windy road in traffic, no speeding involved. Granted it was November and a little cold outside but still...went to go around the turn and the car didn't grip at all. Temperatures were above freezing, and there was no ice/water/gravel on the road.
If you ever look at a brand new Kuhmo 712 tire you will notice it comes with a "film" on it, like silicon or something. I blame his accident on that.
If you do get them my suggestion is to roast the tires after you get them installed to remove this layer of slick film.
I had the 712's on my stang and they were ok in the dry, sucked *** in the rain and or when the weather got cold. Don't even attempt driving in snow.
After running BFG KDW's I will never buy another cheap Kuhmo tire again.

That's funny because I just totalled my GSR about a month ago. About a month before that, I purchased brand new 712s and mounted them on the stock blades. I too, was driving through a turn when my car lost grip. It was a dry day, but there is a lot of construction going on around the area where I was, so I think I hit a patch of debris or dust.
kuhmo isnt really a great tire for aggressive driving. as someone already mentioned. Im not sure if "wear out" applies to this type of tire, they ******* tear when theyre about to go. Ive never seen camber to the point where there was no wire on the inside before in my life.

I had them as my previous set, and I liked them, but they wore out too fast for me. I did one driving school, two auto-x, and a mountain run, and they were down to the metal cords on all four tires within 7 months of purchasing them. They were good in the wet, but in teh dry, they weren't as good as I had hoped. I like my current tires, although they are wearing out just as quickly as the 712's, but grip better in the wet and dry.

Every tire has that, and as a rule you should never push a brand new tire. Motorcycle riders have known this forever, you just don't do it.
The 712's are fine in the cold, I still have mine on and it's 33F degrees out. Last night on the way home it was just as cold and I hit my usual on ramp at the same speed I always take it, no problems. I dont't know how they behave much below 30F though, I don't think I have driven them that cold.
Cheers,
Roy
