Default What engine swap

I own a 94 ls, and I will be doing an engine swap soon. I would like to run mid to high 14's. I would love to go with a b18c5 (and still may) but it is (as you all know) very expensive. So my alternatives are a gsr or H22. If I go with the gsr engine what mods do you guys think i should do to achive this time? Also if I go with a gsr engine would it be possible to up the rpm's to 8700-8900 without being harmfull to my engine? If so how? I am just looking for your guys opinions on what I should do with a $4000. limit.

i also a 94 ls and a 95 gsr, iwould do the gsr swap. its cheaper.. i think, the type r is expensive but maybe worth it as well on the long run, because u got 4000 to play with its better to put that into a gsr, some motors are cheap these days so u'll have little money to invest in your car when ur done with the swap! (type r are minimally around 4g's an up)

if you want to run high 14's then just take some weight out of the car and throw in a gs-r swap with bolt-ons.

I think your best bet would be the B18C1. Its very possible for you to run mid to high 14's in stock trim in you have yourself a very strong and potent motor. If not then just a few bolt-ons will do the trick.

Also, if you want to rev at 8700-8900rpms then the only way you could do that safely would be to upgrade your valvetrain. There are several options for this. Your also going to need to get some higher lift cams. Some skunk2 cams and a skunk2 valvetrain would be something that I would suggest. If you plan on doing that though, you should think about upgrading your entire exhaust setup (Header, Cat, Full Exhaust). You will easily see your goals with those mods.

If you have any other questions that I didn't answer you can post them on here or shoot me a PM.

with 4000 dollars!? build yourself a bomb *** turbo kit with good fuel management. You can use the extra 1000 bucks or so for internals.

What do you think that the price would be on the setup you posted? ex. lift cams skunk2 cams and valvetrain? How about itr internals would they do the same but for less $$$? Also what exhaust system would you recemmond? I was thinking mugen. And with all this setup would my engine last as long as it should?

-Im sure you could find skunk2 cams and the valvetrain anywhere around a grand for the whole thing. Right here in the classifieds on h-t would be a great place to look .
-As far as exhaust setup. Im going to suggest anything that is free flowing and is 2.5" some will say 60mm but I suggest 2.5" So its up to you.
-ITR internals would help yes, but Im not sure if they are reliable up to 8900, someone else can jump on that. I know they are atleast good till 8500. In this case you could grab some ITR cams which are only around 300 used. This would easily put you into the 14's. ITR cams make great power for the money. I think this would be your best bet if your on a money budget. Its also all OEM quality, which is always a great thing to have .
-Your going to want to get a tuning device with all these mods. Hondata would be the best thing, but an Apexi VAFC would work aswell. This way here you can tune your car on the dyno and have your fuel and everything else perfect. This will make your car more reliable.

You won't have a problem with reliability at all if you tune the car correctly. An all motor teg can go and go and go.........

I am s**t out of luck then because no shop on my little island has a dyno . Any suggestions? Is this hondata tuner very hard to use as I am kind of green when it comes to all that stuff. ex. fuel ratio, timing, ignition and whatever else.
