I need to change out my piston rings. Motor is LS/VTEC with type-r pistons, first question waht rings should i go with? second question can you unbolt the rod bolts and pull piston thru the top, or do you have to take out the whole bottom end. Crank and all please advise, cause if I have to take out the whole bottom end, I am going to sell the motor as is.

LS/VTEC 175whp 135lb torque compression tested 1-3 were 150, 4 was 220.
Has GSR head w/ type-r cams, aem cam gears, crower spring retainers, port n polish, 310 injectors, str fuel rail, b&m regulator and gauge, skunk2 manifold, type-r throttle body, aem short ram, magnecore wires, dc 4-1 race headers
Has LS block with Type-R pistons on shotpeened LS Rods.
Has B16 Tranny with Lightened Flywheel and Phantom Grip LSD.
Whole set-up cost me close to 6K for parts with assembly. Willing to let go for 4500obo. With new rings, great compression, good cams, and good tuning car will make 200plus I know it.
P.S. willing to accept trades plus cash 3500 plus full single cam vtec swap

you would need type-r rings although i think its the same for all 1.8's. yea u can unbolt the rods and push them out the top but by then you are already deep into the bottom end. pz
