think of the car is in wot, the two intake valves are wide open, snap&(*^(%^(#& the timing belt's done

the pistons are driven by the crankshalf hit the two valve, bending both of them and giving a good scraping to the piston surface, the rod slammed to the wall.

cool sh-t huh? honda ohc=interference engine

unless you drive a old skool car with L or T head motor

One thing that makes a huge difference in whether or not valves get slapped is manual or automatic tranny. I've only seen one auto car that bent valves when his belt broke and he said he was at about 5k rpm when it happened. I've seen quite a few manuals that have broken belts with no damage. These motors are interference motors, but with the exception of a couple Prel. setups they are not extreme tolerance motors. Our shops usual is to throw a belt on it and see if it runs. Most fire right up with no ill affects.
