Default Accord RPM's

has anyone raised the RPM limit? Is it possible and safe to raise it a bit? I mean, there are civics out there with a rev range up to 10k or more. What needs to be done?

You can with a VTEC controller or chip. How far you wanna move it back depends on your setup and HP. Its useless to move your redline to 9k or so if youre not gonna be making power that high. Usually engines that are revving that high are making power all the way up and have built internals. The reason your stock redline is set at where it is is because your motor's internals arent strong enough to handle that high of revs. Thats why you see plenty cars with thrown rods and bent valves when misshifting 2nd instead of 4th.

It can be done. But on a stock motor it really isn't safe. Raising it a bit probably won't hurt, but raising a 1k or more will. The stock valvetrain is not sufficient the higher you go. You risk the chance of bending valves, messing up the head, and worse, destroying the motor. You can upgrade the valvetrain to do this, but you'll also want to get an aftermarket ECU or go Hondata, add an oil cooler, and maybe upgrade injectors and/or fuel pump. The higher the motor revs, the cooler the oil has to stay to prevent thermal breakdown, and the more fuel you need to prevent detonation.

F-max kit as the base. Did lots of modifications and a 3in turbo-back and water injection.

if this is an f22, don't rev anywhere past 6800-7000 rpm's...the crank just isn't able to support the stresses caused by such high rpm's...and forget about ever revving the f22 to 10k either...unless you are willing to fork out money to buy a forged crank along with numerous other custom made parts, you will not ever be seeing 10k rpm's with such a long stroke...

but also, don't think that a motor that can rev to 10k rpm's is cooler than a motor that revs to 7k....it's all about the power band, power delivery, and usable power...the reason these other motors are revved so high is because they are useless down low...their short stroke makes for shitty tourque numbers, but that's where the accord makes the most power... and thus that's where you need to concentrate on making more power...tourque is the name of the game, not revability...also, the accord pistons speed is faster at 7200 rpm's than an itr at 9,500 rpm's....useless information, but fun facts...
