just wondering if its worth it when you have FI, i've been thinking of just doing a 9lb flywheel whenever i get around to doing my clutch.

It is worth it, I have an ITR flywheel and i wish I had about an 8lb flywheel. Next time I change the clutch, I'll put one in

I have a 9lb toda flywheel and it was one of the best choices I could've made!

I recommend a lightened flywheel!

My brother is running a lightened flywheel (11lb) in his turbo GSR. Bottom end response feels much better. It's definitely worth it.

dustin: what kind of difference did you feel w/ the ITR flywheel over stock. I just bought one and am wondering how it will feel.

There is a noticeable difference w/ the ITR flywheel. The revs drop a bit faster between shifts and make the car easier to drive. I still wish it was lighter though

I have the Clutch Masters lightened flywheel with a stage 3 clutch. I got the clutch before I turbo'd and it did help the bottom end. I don't race mine much since it is my only car and can't afford for something to go wrong so I really can't vouch for how hard it is to keep the revs up. It stands to logic that it would as it has less enertia, conversely, since it is lighter and doesn't require as much energy to get the revs up . The CM fly is nice because the friction point is a replaceable ring. A lot of flywheels come like that.

On your flywheel, there is a surface area that mates with the clutch disk. This area on a flywheel without the replaceable ring would need to be machined if you abuse your clutch (racing) or if you dont replace your clutch when the friction material is gone. Much like what happens when you don't replace brake pads when you should have. If machining doesn't correct it, you replace the flywheel.
In the case of a flywheel with replaceable friction ring, you replace the ring.

i have a JUN lightweight flywheel on my d16z6. They made two types, a lightweight and a super lightweight. Jun told me i wanted the lightweight for a turbo car.

I think its 9 or 10 pounds.

But its awesome...revs soo fast!! I love it and if i go b-series i plan on getting another JUN.

I´ll buy me a Fidenza flywheel for my R when I´m at the SEMA in Las Vegas. I have only heard good things about it. It is not too light and not to heavy. I think it is rated at +/- 10lbs

Do you think the clutch master 7.5 aluminum would be safe to use w/ a turbo setup? Should I get a scattersheild or go with something like a chrom moly that might be stronger?
