Kawa Ninja 500r opinions
hey, I'm still looking for that perfect starter bike....I found a 1999 ninja 500r with only 1300 miles on it selling for 3100 obo...
is this a good bike...or should I hold out....I am afraid I'd out grow it too quick...am I wrong about that?

Well, if you already know that you'll be upgrading later on, then I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to get the Ninja.
FWIW, if it were me, I would hold out, though.

Haven't you been planning on getting a bike for awhile? I thought I remember you posting about getting a new bike awhile back...
If you've got enough for that '99 Ninja 500R (was it $3100?), then you have enough for a '91-94 CBR600F2. Save up a bit more, and you can find an F3. Around how much do you have saved up (if that's too personal, you don't have to answer
)?

I can spend around 3000 on a bike right now.
I have been steadily looking..but haven't got anything yet.
I would like to get an f2, but the only ones that I have found locally for sale have been driven into the ground...those with good ones apparently don't want to give it up

Then may I suggest a FZR600? You can find one in good condition for around 3 grand. You won't outgrow it as quickly as the Ninja, and there's plenty of spares around. They look real nice (except, IMO, the single headlight version).
I have a 1999 500r. Its a good bike. I've had it about 7 months. I wouldn't mind having a larger/faster bike but its still a lot of fun.

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a 600 for a first bike. You're going to waste your money on anything smaller.
If you're afraid of killing yourself, just be responsible. You can easily kill yourself on a moped if you're a big enough idiot.
