my gsr timing belt is loose wtf?
im trying to figure out what the problem is the belt is really loose and the tensenior seems to be maxed out is it possible to stretch a timing belt? or could the tensenior be froze?
Take off the covers & go thru the process just like you're going to replace the timing belt. Probably you'll find something that's not right. Like maybe the tensioner bearing or maybe the tensioner bolt simply worked loose.

that's not good, sounds like you could of messed something up, like jumping some cogs on the cams.....i'd do the 90k maintenece NOW...

I just finished tightening my belt today. I spent about 3 hours doing it!!! I barely released the tension pulley. In the helms manual it says to loosen it a max of 1/2 turn. Well, I kept on doing that and my belt was loose as hell. Then my buddy who's a Nissan tech said to loosen it more, so he loosen a whole turn, then we turned the crank pulley. Then we tightened the tension pulley and it was good to go.
You can manually manipulate the tensioner as well with a coat hanger or a long prybar to pull up on the spring side of the tensioner for more tension on the belt.
Just snapped my timing belt yesterday on the interstate 4 hours from home. Not fun to change on the side of the road. That's what I get for not changing it when I rebuilt the motor
thx for the replys. we went ahead and pulled the head on my 1.8 gsr motor (CR-V-tech- that was my plans gsr is what i got) valves were fine and piston was look great. we went ahead a polished a little on the exhaust ports now were putting things back together we had a problem and had to move to a diffrent shop in the middle of things it went smooth for moving the car 60 miles in the middle of things. question though can i resure the head gasket or the head bolt. motor has 110,000 on it. i called a couple diffrent acura dealerships and got diffrent answers so im wondering.
If you raced your car alot especially with a 6-puck clutch, most likely you've stretched your belt. The best bet is to replace it with another one before you accidently snap it and bend all your valves along with the possibility of damaging your pistons. Better to be safe then sorry bro. Replace it and be assured your belt won't break on you. As far as tensioning, usually when you tension your belt it should have a 1in deflection when you press on the front long side of the belt loop
Good luck
