fan heat woes continued. found out my problem, now how to fix it?
Okie. If yall don't member, my fan on the heat/vent wasn't even kicking on for a while
then it worked one night while I was riding around
, and then it quit again.
Last Saturday I was driving on I-75 S to Kennesaw Barret Pkwy. I had the fan switch to full blast, hoping that some of the airflow outside would push some of the heat inside the car, but no heat was blowing.
I don't remember how long it took for the heat to start blowing w/the fan motor, but all of a sudden bam the heat kicked on full blast like it always had before.
Hmmm, that sounds to me like something has gotten clogged under the dash. I know it's been covered before, but it's starting to get pretty cold, so I need some help.
What's probably clogged, stuck etc..?. b/c the switch seems to be working fine, @ least right behind the faceplate.
I'm glad my heat kicked on either way, b/c some is better than none.
Cliffs notes: Vent/heat no workie, then goin down highway heat kicked on like usual. My conclusion, some crap is clogged under the dash, don't know where to look, but is probably from 200,000 miles over the years.
thanks for help.

I'd start by seeing if you're getting good power and ground to your blower motor, if you are, pull the blower motor and see whats in there(if anything). most likely it's a problem with the blower motor or the blower motor resistor.
Is the fan spinning but no air's coming out? Does air come out any of the vents if you try them or are they all blocked?
sounds to me more like ur motor is toast.. try turning it on full blast.. then look under the dash near the ECU.. right above where the ECU is and to the left there is a round.. motor looking thing with 2 wires coming from it.. take a small hammer and hit it.. if it starts spining then thats ur problem.. bushings and bad.. i doubt something is stuck in it.. but if u wanna check.. that thing i just told u to hit.. is held on by 3 8mm bolts.. unscrew them..*cuss*.. *cuss* more.. kick dash.. then force it out with a big 4ft pry bar.. lol sorry thats how i got mine out. its a bitch.. but if u want heat that bad good luck

The fan wasn't spinning, but there was hot air coming out, but only from the wind pressure making its way thru the vents not the fan blowing it. So I presume heater core works, but fan's on its last leg.
And the other dude (don't feel like pulling up two windows) I'll try the hammer thing. It works w/other crap. lol.
Keep suggestions coming!

Well, if the fan's not spinning, then either it's toast, the connections to it are toast, the switches controlling it are toast, or the fuse is toast (if it's fused, I don't know). Gotta start pulling stuff apart to find out!

its an off and on thing now. I thought it would be a forever thing. Probably will tomorrow, then I'll pull it all apart.
