I have the AGX and I love em for the price and ride. Brother has koni yellows and I would still buy AGX. I am on sportlines w/ R sway bar in rear and all strut bars handles nice.

Very True and I should of stated this ealier but i forgot. Money is not issue here for either 1 of these shocks so shoot away with your opinions.

If money is no object and you're looking for shocks only then the choice should be between koni yellow's or tokico illumina's. If you wanna go big then just get a full tein setup.

I wouldn't say they own Illumina's. Thats a little overkill. It's preference when it comes down to the 2.

Perhaps. I suppose my judgement might be biased
I probably honestly shouldnt have made that comment - Ive never used Illuminas...however, I did have KYB's previously. So I guess I should say - The Konis own KYB's. Real bad.
Do we have anybody in the house that went from Illuminas to Konis?

I haven't used the Koni's yet. But I will soon.
I've used the AGX and Illuminas, though. I like the Illuminas by far. So much more responsive. The AGX weren't bad and for the money damn, they were pretty good, but for like 50 bux more you get a much better shock.

If money is an issue then I would go with the AGX's. If not then I would just get the koni's and just be done with this choice. My AGX's in my LS are holding up fine (I've been using them with my spoon progressive's for 10k and they still rebound strong and they have held up to auto-x (2f/4r)). I run OTS koni sports in the DB2 w/ 450f/600r and they have been holding up fine. The koni's own the AGX's hardcore
. I cant comment on the illuminas (b/c I have never owned or ridden in them) but I'm sure they are a pretty decent shock.

Eh? no.
How a shock is valved and its ability to handle spring rates and drop heights are not preference.
In this case the konis (red and yellow) are valved much better than the illuminas and KYB's. What always surprises me is how many people spend the money to get the AGX and illuminas, yet overlook the koni reds (which are cheaper).
Probably the adjustability factor, which I don't think most people understand how it effects ride quality and how a car handles. Really adjustability is overrated. Most people on these boards are not in a situation where they will benifit by being able to adjust the shock, especially when they are using an underdamped shock for there spring rates to begin with.

I agree with you but the only thing that kept me away from the koni reds is that they are not externally adjustable

How do you know they are valved better than tokico's? Do you really have the credibility to make a claim like that or are you going by internet hear-say.

Talking to a Koni representative, he told me the yellows can handle up to 500ft/lb spring rates before revalving.
The tokico representative said it was somewhere less than 300ft/lb.
In fact tokico openly claims that their shocks work best with their springs, and are designed around those springs. Lets take a look at the tokiko springs
1.5" drop, 253 lb/in in front 123 lb/in in back.

For the price of Konis and the amount of springs I rather just go for a TEIN setup!!

You know the Tein SS and Type Flex are not going to outperform koni yellows and equal rate springs.
