Default obd-0 to 0bd-1 help!

hey wasup felles..i got a lil question that was buggin me earlier...my friend recently did a z6 swap for me.and he used all the a6 obd0 parts..and now im gettin all the parts to change it to obd1 now..since im doing so i was told i will be throwin a code 17 no matter what becuse the 92-95 motors use a electronic speedsensor and 88-91 use's mechanical..so it will make my mph inaccurate...so my question to everyone is..is there a way to wire it up to just be bak to normal using the regular tach so it wont throw a code? or do what he said go get a autometer speedometer and hook it up like that?
