STOCK ITR or JG Edlebrock intake manifold
As you may have read , I am building a 85mm B18C1 with B16A head , what intake manifold should I use on this NA engine. Wouldn't the bigger JG intake be better on a 2.0 liter motor ?
JG clains 10 HP over stock ITR IM ???
I also have a STR 70 MM T/B is this better than the stock T/B ?

i vote for skunk. i dont think you will have enough compression or rpms to justify it. all the dynos ive seen on engines like yours the JG looses power. you have high compresion but its not that high.....

ok check this post. the dynos are gone but you get the idea. listen to the people like Sgt (steve sakai)

you might be ok though with the 12.5:1 i just dont see it being worth it. chances are youll loose too much midrange....
the AEBS seems to be a really good choice. its making more power than the itr/skunk one without the losses in the midrange of the JG

I think the dynos are down when imagestation is down, they are working for me right now.
here is my comparison on 11.3:1 cr with crower 63413 race cams.

green and red are type R manifold blue is edelbrock manifold
time slip comparison
left slip is with green dyno run, right slip is blue dyno run
last time out i hade the red dyno run and i broke my clutch, i should have left it alone.

of course he lost power his compression is to low for the JG.The JG worked great for my setup with 14:1 compression. Just make sure you have enough compression.

i HAVE A cr 12.5:1 AND I'LL GO FOR MY STOCK ITR IM , I REALY WANT THE CAR TO BE STRONG IN THE MIDRANGE , SINCE I AM DOING 4 HOUR RACES .IT MAY BE BETTER THO HAVE GOOD POWER IN THE MIDRANGE.
I'LL LET YOU KNOW NEXT WEEK OR SO WHEN I GET MY NEW SETUP TO THE DYNO.

I use the EDLEBROCK manifold, it works great on my combination and it would work for you. I was running 11.8:1 C/R on my motor. It made 232 HP with 157 FT LB torque. Pulls hard to 10,000 RPM daily driving and track racing. I had a 66 mm throttle body and it was too small for my motor. At wat throttle, there was manifold vacuum. The 70 mm throttle body you have will work just fine.

I suggest to use the type r or skunk2 intake manifold. I have a 11.1:1 compression running Toda A's. Lost power when I tried the JG, but gained rouchly 10 hp and 10 lbs of torque when I put the Skunk2 on instead.
You need more compression and more displacement to make the best use of it. Same concept of running big race cams and 70 plus mm TB's.

Did you get the computer retuned when you put the Edlebrock manifold on your motor? Or you just put it on and expected to get more power.

I think the user shant did a comparison on his motor when he went to the track and ran slower with the JG IM ...and he has about a 12+ compression ...someone should dyno both of these IMs on the same motor and tune then and see which IM makes better power ...i think it would clear up this debate ...IMPO ....Im going with ported skunk2 IM or if i get a good deal on a ITR ill have that ported ...but i mite look further into ITB's ...
