question about rear sway bars
geeeeez louise!!!! why are the rear sway bars for the 4th gen honda prelude so expensive? esp. nesuspeed??? almost 350 for the back only???? can anyone tell me what's a good set up fora 4th gen prelude? just the rear sway bar. any places with good prices..????thx
if i am mistaken, this has already been covered in a fairly recent topic. I think everyone agreed on the neuspeed. Try the search, it shouldnt be that many pages back
well not really, the best is meaning, the best HANDLING/IMPROVEMENT you can get from the specific brand. thats what i mean, with which brand will i get the best performance out of it.

the progress 27mm rear sway for the 5th gen is 3 way adjustable and thicker than the S/T.
i have one, and i love it, though i should have gotten the upgraded endlinks...

i think that was actually on front strut bars

That's the why the Neuspeed adn the other one (i forget the other I found for nearly the same price as the Neuspeed) cost so much, they come with new beefer endlinks and all that sort of good stuff.

can you actually feel a diff. by puttin that on instantly? like if you go take a 90 degree turn like on a corner of the street can you feel it stick to the ground more? what kind of a feeling can you feel off it?
Also, you will feel much more of a difference with a good rear sway bar than with strut bars like the neuspeed. I had my neuspeed bars before I got the sway bar & the strut bars improved turn-in, but the rear sway made much more of an impact.

a rear sway lessens body roll during a turn, but also stiffens the rear end so that it's easier for the rear wheels to break traction. with a FF car this can be good because it'll help combat understeer. when you get the rear end to swing around on an FF car at will and under control, it's called "rotation."

Nope, they were referring to the Neuspeed Front & Rear Upper Strut Bars. I have them. However, the best rear sway bars for the lude are either the Progressive (adjustable) or the Suspension Techniques rear sway bar.

You sir don't understand anything... There is no best as each driver drives differently. What Juan Montoya thinks is best in your car doesn't mean that it's the best for you.
As I said, the Progress one is the only adjustable one on the market currently. But if you want the most neutral handling out of the bunch, the ST set is the way to go.

so your telling me, comptech and cusco are the same ****, just depends on the driver? one has to be better than the other or else they wouldn't compete in the market by trying to make the best parts.

No, what I'm telling you is that they're different "****" but they do perform differently. The Suspension techniques bar is 25mm doesn't come with brackets and has bends to outline the undercarriage. Neuspeed has a rare 27mm out and a 25mm out, comes with brackets and the bends do not outline the undercarriage as well. Both the ST and Neuspeed bars are available in a set, front and rear. The Progress sway bar is only rear is 27mm, comes with brackets and they have optional (and recommended) endlinks, with three adjustment holes for varying amounts of stiffness of the rear sway bar.
Now, while these are ALL quality parts EACH has their own unique qualities. The Progress bar is the stiffest, but that doesn't mean it's the best. As the ST is also the least stiff but it doesn't mean it's the worst. If you've EVER driven on a bumpy road compared to a smooth road you'd understand the difference if you actually knew anything about car dynamics, but you obviously just want "I want the best, tell me which is the best" without understanding anything.
Edit: I again give you the example of Juan Montoya vs you... Will you choose the same parts off the shelf if you both had a billion dollars to build the same car? No, I didn't think so. Each driver has their preference, toward oversteer, understeer, ability to start rotation, etc. If there was such a thing as "the best" then you'd see only one company standing at the top, all the time, every time. I've yet to see that ever as there's PLENTY of companies producing quality parts.

BINGO
Listen to him, he knows what he is talking about..
If your looking for just a good all around bar, that will work in any situation, the ST bar is fine, its cheap, and works well..
Nuespeed is too expensive
Progress is nice, but I hear the installation is kinda funny, and you have to buy endlinks
SANER makes a custom bar for the car, either 25mm or 28mm (28mm is only for pure racecars, it will rip the mounts out if on soft suspension) and 3 way adjustable, you use the stock endlinks as well (i've never had a problem with them). 199$ is how much they cost and they come with new poly bushings.. I bought the NUESPEED rear mounts to go with it, because they are stronger than stock, that was an additional 40$.. All in all, I think its the best setup out there...

Good luck getting them to make one though.
vuthe32, I suggest doing some research into exactly what a sway bar does before you buy, so you know what you're getting - or even if you want it.
