Default My sunroof won't close on one side!?! (Pics)

I just happen to hit 150k miles and my car congradulates me by not complying.

One side (passenger side) of the sunroof won't close. Everything works other than that. Power is good but the side rail it seems doesn't move down so it is half up the whole time. Here's some pics.

Holy cow my sunroof looks identical. It hasn't had power in forever, but one time I was mad in traffic and hit the sunroof and now it won't close on the pass. side.. my friend just gave me old t shirts to stuff into there.. Gonna plug it up with fiberglass or something later..

open the sun roof all the way and u will see a bolt on each side take out and slide roof off and reset on track and if u dont have power look in the middle of the roof in the back there is a cap pop that off and there is a tool in your tire jack bag or allen head and turn the bolt in there and it will open or close the roof manually

Can I just use the manual way to close it? Will it always keep failing on me?

you can try to put it down manually. there is a plastic cap just behind the sunroof. pull that out and turn the allen key bolt inside to pull it down. unless that plastic thing is in the way now.

try it.

Mine did the same thing, I haven't repaired it yet, but this is how I got it to close. Mine was a problem with the passenger side track. You need two people to do this, unless you are very gangly. Have one person inside the car. Manually or use power, open the sunroof all the way. Then have him close the sunroof manually. While he the sunroof is closing, lift up on the rear passenger side corner of the sunroof. When the tracks interlock, or if your sunroof is about to close, let go and it will close like normal. But you have to do this everytime you open your sunroof. That's what worked in my CRX.

Can it still slide back? I Fixed mine when it was like this.

It jumped the rear sliding support rail because of the clips. To close your roof, slide it back. Unbolt the two screws on the bottom rails (you'll see the bolts after you slide your sunroof back a bit).

after bolts removed, pull sunroof assembly from the back and lift up. Now you'll be able to see the two rear support rails. The reason you couldnt close it was because when it jumped the track, the rear support rails are blocking it.

Now all you gotta do is slide the rear rails back onto the track on the sunroof. push it forward a bit to bolt the two bolts back on. Run back into your car and close your sunroof.

Hope I Make sense here.

Had pretty much the same issue as Outsane, but with mine it was the screw that had come loose, the plastic was fine. Still damn annoying to have to remove the whole roof to fix it. Oh hell yeah I used threadlock!

i have the same stupid problem with my CRX. the sunroof motor is fine and it would go back and forth forever. but when i take it back all the way there is a sliding metal piece that gets stuck, so the sunroof cannot come back down on the rear end. it only does this on the passenger side though. i have taken the sunroof off and seen the problem, but i don't know how to fix, other than not to use my sunroof. if i have a screwdriver or even a key i can use it to push the metal piece back into place, but you have to know what to push. i just don't use my sunroof anymore, so no problems.

does anyone else have the problem with back end of their sunroof coming up while their driving(usually at higher speeds) becuase of a suction in the car? it only happens when the windows are closed. i think it is because air needs to get out of the car? i don't know how to stop it, execpt crack the window open.

The sunroof is back to normal now.

I hit a bump on the freeway and it popped back down. It is still loose in that corner though. I'll take it apart and take some pics for you guys to look at.

Thanks for the help thus far

if you can illustrate with some pics i would appreciate that very much... i'm having some difficulty trying to do it this method... maybe I am looking in the wrong places?

I can undo the bolts you mentioned and move the sunroof abit, but your directions seem a little unclear... thanks
