lots of things you can do. but what it all comes down to is... drivability. is this your daily driver? or will this be a full out race car? I'm assuming it is the former, and in that case... go with wheels before stripping other items out - unsprung weight reduction is far greater of a gain than sprung weight reduction.

Rotational mass is worth four times stationary mass, i.e. you save 6 pounds per wheel you've saved the equvilent of 96lbs of dead weight in the car. Just thought I'd put some numbers with the statement.

i understand that. and wheels are a dead easy giveaway for weight savings, but im curious about the car itself. how much is that top and would a hardtop be lghter? what about intake/exhaust system? are there titanium exhausts available fo rit?

Titanium exhausts are available. Amuse, Top Secret, JIC are a few manufactures that make the full ti exhaust system for the S2000.

Titanium exhausts, DRY-carbon hoods, taking out the spare tire and tools are a few things. And if you have money to burn, carbon doors, fenders, trunks, and hardtops(which allows removing the softop) are available.

You would only be saving weight with a hardtop if you removed the soft top and it's motors.

Like others have stated, replacing factory parts with aftermarket ones will help in reducing weight. That is, if you don't want to strip out all your interior. Although, after riding in Krazik's car (2375lbs), I immediately noticed it makes a huge difference in every aspect of performance.

Places where I've saved weight:
wheels - 25lbs
i/h/e - 60lbs
spare tire/tools - 30lbs
remove passenger seat/rail on track days - 50lbs?
replace drivers seat/rail with aftermarket seat/rail (soon) - 20-30lbs?

Some CF hoods weigh more. heh. CF hoods really don't save much weight at all, money would be better spent getting a lighter battery as opposed to a hood. Most people get CF hoods for looks and/or hood vents/scoops of some kind.

do you value air conditioning, stereo, speakers and power steering much? I second the lighter battery idea...how about moving that bad boy to the trunk while you're at it.

why move the battery to the trunk? that ADDS weight to the car overall, in wiring and trays. also i dont see a reason to move the battery on a RWD car since the s2k supposedly has aweosme weight distribution from the factory.
any insight?

The main idea is wieght distribution, as you stated....normally you see this in FWD cars, so we can get weight of the front.

I think I would just get a lightweight battery and leave it upfront in the S.

there's no point in doing this.

A lot of the cf hoods are just fiberglass with cf on top...you are probably right on that...and some of them aren't laid right so the cf is all wavy lookin...
