Default skunk2 stage 2 rebuild in 99 si

my friend just had his head all rebuilt, he put in
skunk 2 stage 2
cams
cam gears
valves
retainers
intake manifold
he also added a aem fuel rail and regulater
he is currently running on the VAFC II

*problem*
he got the car back all rebuilt last night (11/11) the shop he had do it let the car run for aprox 30 min. then he drove it home about 50 miles or so, now he didnt really go hard on it untill he got it almost home, then he let it go past vtec, but he said that it doesnt seem to engage, the VAFC says its kickin on but it doenst pull or sound like its getting vtec.

*cliffnotes if u were to lazy to read
friend got skunk 2 stage 2 head rebuild...now it seems to not hit vtec.

check your oil level, your vtec pressure switch, everything, start with small stuff, is the shop a known shop? - do you trust their work? it all else fail pull the valve cover off and inspect

I dunno if this is the problem but skunk2 stage 2's require high than stock compression to make real power. He should also probably dyno tune it.

i think there are too many variables....take it back and have the shop look at it since it'll be free anyways...
