I would try contacting the SCCA or NASA and seeing what they offer in your area as far as HPDE's or autocrosses go. There may be another organization in your area but those two would be a good start.
Have fun!!!

If it's on-track racing you are looking for, HPDE is the place to start. High Performance Driver's Education is where a qualified instructor helps you develop your skills behind the wheel and in the classroom. You can expect to go through the normal progression in the HPDE program (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced) as you prepeare yourself for your competition liscense.
Unless your last name is Schumacher, you can expect this process to take a little time. But, never fear, as you will be enjoying yourself every step of the way.

There are a few places in CT and at least one in Boston that hold autocrossing events.
CT: http://www.cartct.com/index.html
MA: http://www.NESCC.org
I would highly recommend starting with autocrossing, then work up to track days.
However one of the best places to learn is @
Skip Barber: http://www.skipbarber.com/
The SCCA, NASA, and EMRA are non-particular car clubs who organize and run various driving/racing events.
Feel free to paruze (sp?) http://www.nerdsracing.com
The links section and the Event Listings may also help point you in the right direction.
http://autox4u.com is also another great source for, yep you guessed it, autocross info.
Hope this helps.
