Default Serious problem after swap, we're stumped, diagnostic PROS check here!!!

D16a6 crx si motor going into a 89 crx hf. now before the motor got pulled out, it didnt run due to no compression but it did get spark and fuel. So the d16a6 went in, tryed tyo fire it over, and no spark. So changed dist. still no spark. Checked all grounds and connections and fuses, still no spark. So we put on a nother si harness i had laying around, and you guessed it, still no spark So right now we are at a stand still, becuase it cant be something inside the car and the cabin harness because it had spark before the swap. we changed dist. engien harness, fuses are good, grounds are all new bolts and are fine, all connections are perfect. Another weird thing is, if we turn the key to the *on position, it will get spark 2 times in a row, try to start the car then no spark. turn the key off and put teh key back to on and it will spark once then when we turn it over it wont spark. We are very confused and have no clue where else to go from here since we've covered everything we can think of. So please if you have any idea of what we could try please reply, im in desperate need of this car.

Just liek i said, we hooked up a gun to teh spark plug wire and pulled teh trigger, and just with the key turned to teh on position, it blinked twice on teh gun. I have never seen this before and i just have no clue WTF is going on. I never seen a car make spark unless it was cranking over.

the fuel pump primes etc?

the main relay good?

just cause it sparked before teh swap doesnt mean that it is not something outside of the engine bay...

The fuel pump wouldnt have anything to do with spark, but it is fine. Where is teh main relay? We didnt check that that i know of. Its weird because teh day teh motr came out it was sparking with the old engine but teh next day with this motr it doesnt, tahts why id say it isnt anything to do with teh car itself outside of engine bay.

I believe you are going to find the distributor to be your problem.... find a known good one and try it along with new spark plug wires...

Its not the dist. because i tryed the hf dizzy, that was getting spark before we took teh hf motor out, and it doesnt get spark with the hf dizzy now.

The main relay is under the dash.

Theres alot of stuff under the dash, ive never seen a main relay maybe u can describe it a little better? Also, would the timing with teh cam and crank marks make it not spark up if they werent aligned correctly? jsut a thought for something we could check.

you said there was NO spark?

the crank or cams lined up incorrectly would cause spark at the wrong time...

the main relay is about 3 inchs long by 1 wide and 1.5 high and is brown... (dont worry about it if your fuel pump primes OK)

Back track the power. Do you have power to the coil? does it flash when you crank it? If you do not have power to the coil, follow the wire(s) back untill you have it (or start in the cabin harness, you said you replace the engine harness).

isnt 15 the coil/ignitor?

make sure you have voltage at the blk/yel wire in the two pin connector at the distributor...

code 15 is ignition output signal, that doesnt nessecerily mean ignitor/coil, i assumed. see, the hf dist. made spark on the other engine before we took it out thats what leads me to believe its not ign/ciol.

well, sorry to say, but your ECU is telling you there is a problem with your dizzy...

is there voltage on the blk/yel wire at the dist. ?

what else does 15 mean? the only thing Honda thinks it means is coil or ignition control module or broken wires between the above...

sounds fine, now what ECU are you running?

what is the model number and out of what car?

if you are using the HF CRX one, now measure the voltage with ign on at A18 (-)and both B15 and B17 (+) on the ECU...
