Default Light weight hatch for crx

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet but I was on this site that will soon offer a carbon fiber hatch for the 88-91 crx

http://www.seibon.com/Products...a.htm
there is no pic up yet

I called their distributor AFS motorsports and talked to a guy who works there. He told me they haven't received the CF hatch for the crx yet but they will get it soon. So those that have $650 to blow can get a 8-10lbs CF hatch. Tell me what you all think?

SWEET. but i think i would paint mine. $650.00 is alot of $ too and im sure we'll have to pay shipping so another $100.00 on top of that. doesn't seem worth it unless your using it on a race car.

Yeah I agree with you, the price would jump a lot after you ship it. So for a race car that would be cool

I'm not sure, but I took mine off when I got the car painted and it was so heavy. I think most of the weight is the glass. But I think the CF hatch with plexi windows would be so light.

Anyone have the exact weight of the oem hatch with glass?

i don't think it comes with glass. or does it say it does on the site somewhere? a cb hatch is pretty tight.

CF hatch would be pretty nice. but it sounds like a grip of money for just a hatch.

Here's how our Fiberglass hatch turned out.

and for only $200.00 its affordable to many people.

a CF hatch is bling bling.

most of the weight IS the glass, replace that with lexan and you're almost sure to lose a lot of the weight in the hatch lid.

Hell yeah, it's heavy. My helper shocks (name?) are gone and I have to lift the hatch while turning the key to open it. There has to be about 50-60 lbs of hatch on the back of there.

OT-Is there a way to replace the glass on a daily driver w/o leaks?

Well the guy at AFS told me the OEM glass could be swapped over. But I guess if you buy a $650 CF hatch you have better get a lexan window for it.

Your hatch looks good exospeedAMcrx. Does it have the lower little peeper window on it?

VIS is unveiling their CF hatch for the CRX as well. Not sure on the pricing, but probably 5-600 in the beginning.

When a friend was getting some moulds made for carbon fibre bonnets (proper no **** stuff, the guy builds race cars outta CF) he did ask. Half jokingly he was told £50,000 and he could have one.
Waiting to win the lottery... Oh yeah

Cool another way to give our 1,000 dollar cars some more expensive crap! But I'll probably get it down the road anyway! Got any more info, like is it lexan glass, no glass... ?

No glass included, just the hatch itself.

Would you have any clue what that is in American dollars? And what about suspension mountpoints. It would be cool stuff to have one man, I could pick it up with another giuy at the other end
