Default Coilover owners, please read...

Wonder what you guys put on the spring seats/locks to keep them last longer? I have had Tein HA for 3 years and have been very happy with them. But the problem is I live in the salt belt area and have to drive my R during winter, I think this combination kills the spring seats and locks.
I posted a while back about the breaking of one of the spring locks. Imagine an "O" become a "C" with a very small opening. This is what the lock likes like.
This past weekend, I changed tires in prepare of the coming winter. I discovered that not only both spring locks at the rear are now broken, but also one of the spring seat (also at the back). It can be best described with a hair line crack at the moment.
Right after install, I had put white lithium grease on them. But I think the grease got washed off as time goes by. Is there a more permanent solution, other than getting a beater for winter, you ppl are using? I have heard vaseline is an option too. Anybody tried?
Thanks

Every 6-8 months I remove the coilovers from the car - they are fully disassembled and each piece is inspected and cleaned individually. I usually spray the threads with WD-40 but it is wiped off very well before they are installed back on the car to prevent attracting road grime.

.....no problems for me, but I use full aluminum coilovers.

And I live in ATL, which doesn't have a "winter" like some northern states.....

I remember the tein ha's were a topic of some controversy with regard to corrosion some time back. Maybe search in the archives? That's one of the reasons I stayed away from steel coilovers - and lost weight with AL.
