Default JDM Swap or keep it??

OK, should i spend the $2500+ to buy and swap in a JDM H22A or should i just rebuild my H22A1 with performance internals. the only thing is that i have around 217k miles on the engine.

build the **** out of your usdm one. no point in spending all that money to be back where you started, stock. dont matter how many miles, it will have 0 when your done.

what kind of goals you going for..n/a, turbo...

if i went with the JDM i would just go NA but if i do rebuild the engine i might set it up for turbo.

i would rebiuld with hard core internals and turbo! you can get like 280 at 5-6 psi stock just think what a little tuning and more boost would do. turbo!!!!

Isn't the only difference between USDM and JDM internals anyway? I mean the actual bare block and bare head without parts are the same right?

most definitely a rebuild bro, you'd probably end up saving some cash in the long run to go with a turbo

exactly. Or just spend the whole $2500 on rebuilding this motor. You could push out a lot more ponies doin that than buyin a jdm swap and gettin only 10 hp more.

I'd go NA and spend more time at the track. $2500 is a lot of money that is only what it costs if you do the swap yourself even more if you get a shop to do it. so say $3000. I'd get Type-s pistons balance everything, thinner head gasket, cams, springs, retainers, manual tensioner conversion, mild P&P, LSD, brake pads, tires and dyno tuning time. If nothing else it'd be cheaper than going with FI. $3000 to go with a JDM will get you what 10-15 HP and another 100K miles worth of abuse? But if you build the engine it will be like 30-35HP and the same amount of miles if done right. Just my $.02.
